1938 Rover 12 Sports Saloon P2 For Sale

I have owned the Sports Saloon since 2003 and so this is a very reluctant and genuine sale. Unlike the ‘six-light’ model, the Sports Saloon is quite a rare body style with a lower and more attractive roof line. Purchased by myself locally from the late Dr Evans of Perranwell Station. The only time the Sports Saloon let me down was driving it away on purchase. At the end of his lane, the condenser failed but this was changed and subsequently driven home. Dr Evans rebuilt the chassis and engine, resprayed the car and retrimmed the front and rear seats in leather. I continued to complete the car by replacing the door trims with the correct detailing and sprung pockets and new carpets. Excellent headlining. The Sports Saloon would benefit from either a light respray or some paint improvements. The paint has flaked off around some of the door edges by the windows and has a few paint spots that need rectifying. The Sports Saloon is a quality car from a company then renowned for its engineering quality. Some of the small details are delightful including the British Jaeger dual fuel and oil sump gauge. Accepted by the VSCC as a ‘Post-Vintage Thoroughbred’. Fits comfortably in a normal size garage! I have shown the Sports Saloon at various steam rallies over the years but have mostly enjoyed driving around the Cornish countryside and even popping to Tesco. I have undertaken various improvements over the years including a professionally rebuilt steering box, some chroming and fitting the correct SU carburettor. Fitted with an electronic petrol pump. Complete with a working sliding sunshine roof, opening windscreen, very efficient period heater and demister and working freewheel (which I do use). Fitted with a stainless-steel exhaust. Good size practical boot. Battery cut off switch. Working Clock. Matching numbers. I am determined to sell to the right person – I’m not desperate to sell so no tyre kickers please.
