1937 Rover 10 Saloon, Lovely Condition, Improved Rover P2 Engine For Sale
APN 158 was manufactured in 1937 by Rover, and first registered later in the year on the 27th November. In 1933 Rover announced the Rover 10 model and they were in production until 1938 making this P1 a relatively late car. They were manufactured with a new underslung chassis, freewheel and a new 1389cc engine and was the very first car to be developed by Rover after brothers Spencer and Maurice Wilks joined the Company. The Rover was to be an upmarket, high quality family saloon and pricing certainly reflected as it was much more expensive than other British saloon cars manufactured by Austin and Morris.
This lovely example is equipped with the slightly larger, later Rover P2 engine that gives improved performance. APN 158 has been in regular use for the past twelve years and has been capable of long-distance motoring covering 12000 miles with one Derbyshire based owner from 2008 to 2019. The Rover regularly attended many classic car shows and events including the 2014 Crich Tramway Village Classic Transport Gathering and in 2015 it was on display at The National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire.
The Rover has proven an extremely reliable pre-war family saloon and its clear maintenance has been second to none. Some helpful information and ownership tips have been left with the history and will be handed to the Rover next owner. In late 2019 the Rover was treated to a brand new set of Lucas 525/550x17 tyres from Longstone Tyres, in recent years the Rover has had a new loom and battery isolator fitted and its clear the Rover has been regularly serviced and lubricants regularly changed. Our Rover is lovely on the road with a strong, lusty engine that holds very good oil pressure, the gearbox is very nice to use and the car feels positive, direct and very sturdy on the road. This is a very pleasant car to drive and we can see why its long-term owner covered so many miles in the car. With its high quality two tone Blue paintwork, bright chrome work, lovely upholstery featuring beautiful woodwork and leather, and a superbly detailed engine bay, this is an extremely attractive car and one to be immensely proud to own.
