This beautiful Austin Healey 100/6 is a RHD Home Market car that was built on the 10th January 1958. The Healey left the factory as it presents today with Duotone Colorado Red and Black paintwork with Red leather upholstery and Black hood. Standard equipment included overdrive, wire wheels, laminated windscreen and miles per hour speedometer. Our Austin Healey was supplied new by Car Mart Limited and registered new in Grimsby, Lincolnshire. We are pleased to report this stunning, restored matching numbers Healey comes with an exceptional history with paperwork dating back to the 1960’s and records just two owners over the past 35 years.

Going all the way back to the 1960's are the original service records for the cars early life. Fred Lloyd (Motors) Ltd maintained the car in February, April and June 1966, Grimsby Motors Limited had the Healey in August, November and December 1966 and again in March, June, July and November 1967 with all the Shell Lubrication service sheets present in the history file. The car headed south in 1968 and various invoices are on file during the late 1960's and 1970's in the surrounding London area. By the early 1980's the Healey had covered almost 70,000 miles and Hampshire based MG specialists carried out bodywork on the car to include inner and outer sills. This particular Company carried out lots of maintenance throughout the early 1980's. In 1985 the car moved to Worthing, Sussex and in 15 years of ownership the car covered just 6000 miles.

In 2000 at 96000 miles our 100/6 changed hands as a strong, honest, and original car. Remaining in Sussex, its new owner decided to commission a light restoration that is supported by invoices and some photographs. In total, in the region of £35,000 was spent on the Healey, the majority of this in the early 2000's and since major works it has been superbly maintained. In 2001 a West Sussex specialist stripped down and rebuilt the cars original engine as required. The report in 2001 states the bottom end of the engine was completely original, had never been dismantled and was in exceptionally good condition. The crankshaft was running on standard shells and having measured them, there was minimal wear, this was the same for the pistons and cylinder bores. As the engine was in such good order, it did not warrant a full rebuild so had new parts to include a new timing chain and tensioner, main and big end bearing shells, cam followers, oil pump, alloy sump, oil filter conversion, core plug set and full gasket set. An unleaded head conversion was carried out, the gearbox was stripped down and inspected and put back together with new gaskets, the clutch spigot bearing and thrust bearing replaced, all engine and gearbox mounts changed, as were all coolant hoses.

The Healey was treated to lots of new parts to include an exhaust system, general brake overhaul, new tyres, aluminum fuel tank, solid state fuel pump, new windscreen and many invoices are on file for maintenance. Having had the engine work, the Healey was taken to marque specialists Rawles where it had new suspension bushes and shock absorbers, some interior trim work and in 2006 they stripped the car down carrying out bodywork and a full re-paint and many years on since this cosmetic work, the car looks truly stunning. The bodywork is first class with gorgeous straight panels, the paint finish gleams, the chrome work is top class having had all new chrome/re-chroming, the hood is in excellent condition and the engine bay and underside present beautifully. The interior is of a very high standard with beautiful aged leather trim, excellent carpets, door cards and dashboard/gauges. The chrome wires wheels and tyres are excellent, and on the road the car does not disappoint with a superb engine holding excellent oil pressure, lovely gearbox with working overdrive and handling and braking are direct and efficient.

This UK Home Market 100/6 is a fantastic all round package in that it has superb history, provenance of matching numbers and original colours, it retains lots of originality and has never been in a particularly poor state as proven with the engine. The car gleams with a stunning finish and can be proudly taken to shows, can reliably tour as proven having covered 14000 miles since 2000 taking the genuine mileage from new to 110,000. The car comes with a Heritage Certificate confirming all numbers, colours and factory information, handbook, copy of ‘buff' logbook, MOT's certificates back to 1969, invoices and service paperwork back to 1966 and in the region of £35k of invoices for the early 2000's sympathetic restoration work and maintenance since.
