1962 Jaguar E-Type 3.8 Series 1 FHC For Sale

1962 Jaguar E-Type 3.8 Series 1 Fixed Head Coupe Registration Number: 253 DYT Chassis Number: 860362 Supplied new by Henley’s Limited of London on 14th April 1962, 253 DYT is a truly exceptional motorcar. Now finished in the stunning colour of Indigo blue with grey hide this car presents beautifully and is a testament to those involved in its restoration. Sitting on Dunlop triple laced wire wheels and Avon tyres gives a subtle nod to the carefully thought out mechanical improvements that make this E-Type the perfect long distance tourer and an ideal companion for rally events. Equipped with electronic ignition, upgraded Coopercraft brakes, uprated shock absorbers, rear springs and reaction plate, poly-bushed suspension, Kenlowe fan and more. Having been subject to two comprehensive bare metal restorations during its lifetime, the first of which came to an end in 1990. The second took place between 2005 and 2012. There are two enormous history files accompanying the car detailing all works carried out during both restorations. A number of well respected names had a hand in this most recent restoration, these include XK Engineering, SNG Barratt, SC parts and BAS. Used in 2015 by Jaguar UK as part of the launch of their new F-Type, and used sparingly since its most recent restoration came to an end this example is very much ready to be used and enjoyed by it’s next custodian. In short, this is without doubt one of the finest and most well sorted E-Types I have had the pleasure of piloting. Restored by the right people, with the style and attention to detail very often lacking in lesser restorations. A HPI report will show a Category C marker, due to the car being damaged whilst at a Coys sale in 2004.
