For sale is my beloved Africa Twin.  I bought this 5 years ago and since then it has only covered just 1047 miles, and none since 2016, hence the reason for sale.  Its a beautiful bike and one I always hankered after but its just not getting ridden and it should be.  If I'm honest, its a smidge too tall for me and a bit of a hooligan machine, but the main reason for sale is that my wife simply won't entertain going on it as its so uncomfortable and I don't have the time to ride it often enough.  So she has to go - (the bike, not the Wife!).

There is nothing that makes me think the mileage of a tad over 30,000 is not genuine and I have MoT certificates dating back to 1996 showing its history which supports this.   The bike has been SORN since August 2016 and currently has no MoT (I don't have the time and inclination to get it done, however everything absolutely works as it should and I have little doubt it would fly through an MoT).  I have recently had the wheels refurbished with stainless spokes and nipples and I have also just replaced the front and rear sprockets and chain with brand new items as they were showing a little surface corrosion which I wasn't happy with - swapping these out gave me a chance to see that there are no issues whatsoever with the output shaft, as this bike has clearly led a relatively sedentary life over the years.

The bike starts on the button and even though it has not ventured out over the last 4 years, it has been regularly cleaned and has still been serviced, and the engine started and clutch worked religiously to ensure that it does not seize up during storage. It's had a recent oil change too.  It sounds awesome with the stainless steel performance Laser Pro-Duro exhaust which pops on the overrun and barks when you give it some wrist.

It was sensitively restored by the previous owner and there is a bucketload of parts history that goes along with the bike together with a complete replacement seat (see pic).  I also have a centre stand for it which wasn't fitted when I bought the bike, (and I haven't felt the need to do so either as I have a bike lift) which is part of the sale.  I didn't fit it as they have a reputation of being a little untrustworthy without being doctored.

I'll be very sad to see this go as it it one of the bikes I drooled over when they first came out.

Its a 30 year old bike so its not what I would call concours (as I'm a bit of a perfectionist), but it still looks in great condition overall and is miles better than most of the examples out there that have had a hard life, unlike this one which clearly hasn't.  It would certainly not disgrace itself at a show.

These early Twins are really starting to appreciate in value now and this one would best suit a classic bike collector who appreciates the big rally raid enduro bikes and who has the space, time, and appropriate inside leg measurement to be able to give her the treatment she deserves and also to exercise her regularly which I haven't been able to do.

Terms & Conditions
* No tyre kickers, test pilots or daydreamers - serious enquiries from serious buyers only please.
* I'm in no tearing rush to sell the bike so please don't make any silly offers please. I know what good examples of these are worth and I know what I paid for it so no daft offers please.
* Viewing is possible by prior arrangement and providing Coronavirus Social Distancing precautions are strictly observed.  I have to bring the bike from the lockup where it is stored so viewing by appointment only.
* Full payment to be made within 24 hours of auction end by BACS transfer, with funds to be cleared before release.
* This is a 30 year old bike which, whilst it is in excellent condition, does not come with a warranty either implied, given, nor agreed.
* UK Buyers only please.
* Buyer must collect please.  As previously stated, the bike currently has no MoT and is SORN so it will need to be transported unless ridden on trade plates.

£4250 ovno.
