1997 BMW Z3 1.9 Auto Goldeneye Bond Colour Project For Sale
I bought as a lockdown project as a bit of a BMW nut and all this extra spare time not being able to go out. The car had been off the road 2 years or so when I bought it. It all looked strait forward and appeared to just need loads of little things sorted which I set about doing. Sadly I took the car in for an MOT on Monday expecting it to fly through and it failed on brake lines and some corrosion on a small spot. The tester found play on one of the suspension arms but when driving this is not detectable at all. That said, a complete kit to replace everything is a mere £120 as these cars share parts with the 3 series e36. I am gutted as I am nearly £1600 into this car having done all the work outlined below and honestly expected the car to walk through the MOT. I cannot finish the job for a number of reasons and I am offering it as a bargain project for someone else to finish. Some of the work I have done: - Have done full service including oil and filters. - New front discs and pads (which have now covered a total of 20 miles) - 3rd stop light now working - New gaitors and bushes. - Replaced seat shims (common z3 fault causing seat travel) - New exhaust back box. - Polished headlights. - Bought and fitted rear view mirror - Adjusted windows so the new hood is watertight - Replaced window switches - New reg plates - Seats-out deep clean - New battery - New fog lights - Polished centre console wood trim Great tyres all round, drives beautifully. The car is a lovely spec with wood trim, Onboard Computer (rare) and the iconic James Bond car colour combo of Atlanta blue and Oregon Beige leather. According to the previous owner the hood was replaced a couple of years ago, and it does look it. The back screen is not perfect but no splits and still good visibility through it. Bad bits: Generally cleaned up although it’s not a show queen. Front bumper has been painted but not lacquered (by a previous owner) - it looks ok but doesn’t shine. Key scratch on passenger door and very minor pitting on sill cover ends from stone chips but all looks fine really. Passenger seat adjustment not working. In the past someone has put black vinyl around the windscreen to make the car more like the bond movie car and this has been removed but not cleaned up. The drivers seat bolster shows some wear. Has an alarm fitted, comes with book pack and 1 key, but not much in the way of history. Has an aftermarket CD player fitted. Engine purrs though no smoke and great colour combo. A bit of bargain fun bond style bmw for the summer. It could be driven home at your own risk but I would obviously strongly suggest you arrange a trailer. I took it down the A3 to the testing station and it drives absolutely spot on, strait, smooth and a lot of fun. While the car drives perfectly I think you will need to collect it on a trailer unless you are really local. I can help with delivery as a friend has a trailer but this will be an additional cost depending on location.
