1971 MGB GT For Sale
For sale is my 1971 MGB GT. It’s a bronze yellow original chrome bumper with overdrive and a webasto roof. I took a really long time finding this car and checked it over very thoroughly (as my wearisome Girlfiend can attest to!). It’s far from perfect but the bodywork is really solid and it runs very well. I’ve had the car a little over a year and have enjoyed improving it quite a bit in that time but unfortunately it’s time to part with the car as I’m looking to buy my first house soon. I’ve driven it to several shows and from the midlands to the south coast for Goodwood Revival without a hitch. It gets lots of attention and would make a great running project or candidate for a concourse restoration. I’ve tried to be as honest as possible and include as much detail as I can. I’ve got many more pictures and also videos of the car running if you are interested. Pros • Underbody is in really good condition and very solid • Chrome is in really good condition • Overdrive • Leak free webasto roof • Electronic Ignition • Kenlow fan • K&N Air intake • Single 12V battery upgrade • Bluetooth radio and electronic washer spray (easily reversed if desired) • New rear dampers • New fuel lines • New steering column and UJ • Four Uniroyal Rain Expert tyres with good tread • Radiator flushed and thermostat replaced recently Cons • The paint isn’t the best. It’s a little flat and rather thin in some places meaning you can see a greenish shade underneath. That being said I personally think the slightly “matt” look really suits it and I love the colour! • There’s some spots of bubbling as shown in the pictures however the previous owner had the front wings off and said they were solid, so I believe it’s only surface bubbling there. • Horn not working • Rear damper droplinks need replacing (this is the second set of new parts from MGOC – so I wouldn’t recommend them!) • Very slow leak on one rear tyre (drops roughly 10PSI in a couple of weeks) • Exhaust is leaking and a bracket is missing - would really benefit from a new system • Missing glovebox (included but not fitted) • Bit of bump steer - not sure if this is normal or if tracking is required • Windscreen is misted (the garage said this would be an MOT advisory but could be considered a fail) • Speedo fluctuates a little (spare cable included) • Needs a new wiper blade • Garage advised rear brake drums distorted (advised not an issue currently but to replace in the future) • Track rod ends seized onto rods I’m also including some spare parts: • Full MGOC Service kit • Track rod ends • Carb service kit • Glovebox • 5L of Forlife coolant • Battery isolator switch • Speedo Cable • Touch up paint • Windscreen replacement tool Given the current circumstances viewings would need to adhere to social distancing measures. Thanks for looking and all the best with your search.
