For sale is this beautiful 1928 Morris Oxford 3/4 coupe with dickey seat. It is a 13.9 hp, 1701cc model which was first registered on 30th April 1928. It has its original engine and matching chassis which has been verified by the Bullnose Morris club.

The overwhelming attraction of this car is that it has all its original equipment, fully functioning, as it would have had when it left the Morris factory in 1928. There are so many details such as the Lucas “ king of the road” lights and mirror to the patented dipping headlight system which is just a lever that tilts the headlights forward ! Items that are very difficult to obtain or replace.
The car is also fitted with an Auster adjustable sun screen as well as hand fabricated brake and indicator lights with brass mounts to give that vintage look as well as enhancing safety. It is a very attractive car which benefits from the half round swage mudguards fitted in this year.
Apparently there are only around 6 cars with this body on the register.

The car belongs to my father who has been a vintage and classic car enthusiast for over 40 years and he is unfortunately having to sell his pride and joy due to health problems. He acquired this car in 2006 having had other vintage cars previously and it has been well maintained whilst in his ownership.
He believes this car to be the best he has owned and cruises well with its adequate power and braking.

As regards the history of the car, it would appear that it was only on the road for fifteen years between 1928 and 1973.
In 1973 it was subject to a sympathetic restoration which included, amongst other work, fresh paint and full leather interior. The vehicle was originally brown in colour. Although this work was carried out nearly 50 years ago, the bodywork and interior still look very good and maintain a beautiful patina. There are some photos of the restoration.
The car was sold in 1975 for £7000 to a new owner who entered the car in 17 shows between 1975 and 1977 and awarded 7 firsts, 4 seconds and 4 others.

My father and late mother enjoyed driving the car on rallies and days out in the Yorkshire countryside and although they believed the car should be driven, they did take it to two prestigious north of England shows at Newby Hall and Sledmere House over several years. The car won a 1st, 2nd and a 3rd place over successive years in the vintage car class. It’s originality and rarity were often remarks made by the judges.

During my father’s ownership, the car was presented annually for its MOT when they were mandatory and it always passed with no advisories, even surprising the tester with how well it stops.
The car has not been driven by my father for the past two years although it has regularly been started and maintained.
The clutch was re-corked 500 miles ago.
The car is currently SORN.

Having made the decision to let the vehicle go it was given a minor service including a new battery last week and started on the button. The car runs very well and maintains a good temperature, the car has never had an issue with overheating which can afflict these vintage cars.
There is no rust on this vehicle and is solid including the woodwork.
Overall this is a very good, original car which is owned by an enthusiast. It will provide any new owner many years of pleasure.
I have many more photos as well as a video of the car with its engine running which I can provide on request.
There is a lot of documentation, manuals as well as vintage tools included in the sale.
