A very solid and presentable example of a rare coach.
New in 1972 to prestigious coach company Glenton Tours of London who specified a unique centre entrance. It was used for up-market UK and European tours. Later, Pinewood Film Studios were a regular customer who used it to transport actors and film crews around their film studios and outside locations. By 1989 it was being used by a Church before being rescued from a scrapyard and restored. It lived in the North West Museum of Road Transport for 10 years before being acquired and refurbished by Alpha Bus Co in 2018.
During our ownership, much time and money has been spent including:
• Reframing boot lid surround
• New rear window rubbers
• Full repaint with red relief
• New red plastic trim inserts
• New aisle carpet
• PA System
The overall structure condition is excellent. Seats are presentable without any rips or tears. There is one odd seat cushion in a different red moquette. The aisle flooring is worn but covered by new carpet.
• New front tyres
• Refurbished injector pump
• Refurbished water pump
• New lift pump
• New clutch master & slave cylinders
• New front crankshaft oil seal
The AEC 505 engine starts on the button. It smokes and leaks a bit like all AEC’s do but the smoke quickly clears once warm. Fourth gear is tricky when cold but smooth when warm. The driver’s ability with a constant mesh gearbox helps greatly. The underside of the coach is very clean and presentable.
The Class 6 MOT expired in April and has not been renewed due to the current restrictions. Maintenance and previous MOT preparations have been undertaken by Masons Coaches, Tring. I do not foresee any issues with gaining a MOT and the new owner will decide whether they want a Class 5, 6 or to take advantage of exemption. COIF is present.
Stored undercover near Leighton Buzzard. Sold as seen, viewing by appointment.
VAT will be added to the final sale price.
