This Aermacchi was part of a collection.
In 1965 the motorcycle was delivered new in the Netherlands. Until 1991 the Aermacchi was owned by the first owner and from 1991 to 2004 the second. The third owner has had the motorcycle in the company stock / collection
The Aermacchi has recently been 'in our stable'.

The Aermacchi has hardly been used after restoration and is in concourse condition.

The motorcycle is exceptionally beautiful.
Even so beautiful that it is now in my office.
It is actually a work of art.
Others buy a painting or a vase, but I prefer a motorcycle as art.

The fuel tank is coated on the inside.
The motorcycle was once stored without fuel.
So after filling the fuel tank and installing a new battery, the engine ran immediately.
Everything works, including the lighting.

Aeronautica Macchi (later "Aermacchi") was founded in 1912. Aermacchi started manufacturing Airplanes. After World War II, Aeronautica Macchi came under strict Allied control, but production of training aircraft, such as the De Havilland Vampire and Fokker S.11, was quickly restarted. However, it was not enough to offer employees a job and they started producing triporters immediately after the war and motorcycles from 1950 onwards.

In the 50s and 60s they built many 250 and 350cc single-cylinder four-stroke engines. Aermacchi was bought by Harley-Davidson in the 1960s and focused on producing two and four-stroke engines.

The motorcycles produced by Aermacchi were quite successful in the post-war Italian market, thanks in part to their track successes. Aermacchi designed and produced models with the Italian word "Ala" (wing) in her names, such as "Ala Verde", "Ala Blu" and "Ala d'Oro" ("green wing", "blue wing" and "golden respectively"). wing "), but the company was small and in a weak financial position, despite a gradual improvement in sales of the 11 and 15ci (175 and 250cc) four-stroke engines with their characteristic horizontal cylinders.

This technique was what attracted Harley: The Aermacchi singles were modern and lightweight for their time, but the Italians needed investment to continue making them. A deal was made and Harley-Davidson bought the entire company, after which Aermacchi exported the singles to America, complete with Harley-Davidson badges. They were successful, and despite the fierce competition from the Japanese, they continued to sell through the 1970s, although they became increasingly old-fashioned by then, despite the later addition of electric start.

The pace of development of the Japanese was so high that Aermacchi was unable to keep up with the Japanese and sales began to decline. In 1978, Harley Davidson sales in the USA also collapsed and Aermacchi group was sold to Cagiva / MV Agusta.
