EVG 443H was manufactured on the 5th February 1970 and is a matching numbers car that was despatched new by British Leyland, New York, USA. Converted to UK engine specification on triple carburetors and still in its original LHD format, this lovely E-Type Roadster comes to us with an impressive, detailed history file and is in excellent mechanical condition driving superbly. Our E-Type arrived in the UK in 2018 and unlike many Jaguars arriving from the US, it did not need any major work having had a huge amount of expenditure over the past 20 years.

In 1999 the E-Type was purchased from K&K Vintage Motors LC in Houston Texas and its new owner then spent thousands of dollars over the next ten years taking the E-Type to an exceptional standard mechanically. In 2000 Vintage Jag Works in Idaho supplied the owner with triple SU carburettors and manifold set and the 4.2 engine was rebuilt and balanced. In 2006 Classic Jaguar in Austin, Texas looked after the car and once again thousands of dollars were spent. The E-Type was treated to a new clutch plate, they rebuilt the front suspension with new bushes, ball joints and torsion bars, overhauled the braking system and cooling system. Classic Jaguar continued with the mechanical restoration, removing and re-conditioning the fuel system and in 2007 the rear suspension and differential assembly were removed and rebuilt as required.

Later in 2007 having had a huge amount of mechanical restoration work, the owner had new wheel bearings, splined hubs and chrome wire wheels fitted to the car, all supplied by XK's Unlimited in California. In 2009 further expense went into a new engine and dash wiring loom, major engine compartment detailing work, new alternator, tie rod end boots, various new hoses, speedometre rebuild and the dashboard controls were all re-conditioned. Having owned the car for 13 years and seemingly enjoyed improving the car, it was sold on in 2013 and transported to Florida. Its new owner, a classic car enthusiast regularly attending events kept the car until it came to the UK in 2018 and enjoyed carrying out no major work on the car, just regular upkeep and maintenance due to the fact so much had been spent between 2000 and 2013.

Since its time in the UK, the E-Type has had a new alternator, regular servicing, new seat foams and replacement mohair hood and chrome trims. Various seals and gaskets have been replaced and the Jaguar has covered minimal mileage, proving totally reliable and driving superbly. On the road the car feels fantastic with lovely direct, tight and precise handling, the engine is incredibly fit holding excellent oil pressure and offering superb performance from the 4.2 unit. The all synro gearbox is a delight to use and the car feels very well sorted. The bodywork is totally solid, it has a good strong shell, nice older paintwork, good chrome, and a nicely aged interior. EVG 443H is a very good value E-Type Roadster, ideal for touring Europe in its LHD specification or used in the UK as it is, or converted to RHD. Good quality strong E-Type's are hard to find in this price range, this is not the usual LHD import that needs restoration, this is a brilliant driving car that represents a good value.
