1992 K Reg Mk2 VW Golf GTi 8v 3 Door For Sale
If you've been on the look out for a Mk2 Golf to invest in, then this could be what you've been waiting for. I'll try not to make this like war and peace, but hopefully you'll get the idea. Car is registered on a K plate, 1.8 8v GTi in Tornado Red with 92k miles on the clock. It has had an extensive rebuild in 2017 / 18 with the aim being to maintain originality as much as possible, but I have tidied things up here and there to make things more presentable than VW managed from the factory (cloth tape wrapped wiring harnesses as an example). Car has covered circa 1500 miles since. I have every receipt and took loads of pictures throughout the process to detail the meticulous work carried out. Summary of the car below: Interior: Recaro seats with electric adjustment for up and down as well as heated option for both passenger and drivers side. These are largely unmarked and the nicest condition ones that I have seen (both front and rear). There are no fag burns / pulled threads or collapsed foams. Heating and adjustment are fully functional. The rear bench seat also has headrests (another rare option). There's electric windows and mirrors (although the mirrors make more noise than movement when the switch is operated). All lights / switches / dials / gauges etc are fully functional. All panel lighting has been refreshed with LED's although colours remain standard (it just means that you can see the illumination now whereas you couldn't before as the original lamps were so dim). MFA computer functions as it should (although the rev counter does very occasionally stick momentarily). Space saver spare wheel / toolkit / jack / first aid kit all present in the boot. Hand trimmed leather on the original steering wheel with red contrasting stitching, and a gear lever gaiter to match. All carpets were steam cleaned and have no wear or damage. Headliner is also new (and of a much nicer quality than the original). Full set of quality red carpet mats. Exterior: The Tornado Red paint gleams. There is not a single spot of rust on the whole car. All 4 wheels have been re powder coated in the original color. New centre caps and 4 matching Dunlop tyres with loads of tread on them. It has a rare and original rear centre mounted stop lamp housed in a body coloured spoiler (that was a US option as I understand it but is not shown in the attached images on here). The rear wiper is laid flat (but can easily be put back to it's original position if so desired). Engine Bay: The whole bay was stripped out to have it repainted in tornado red. This was completed to a high standard by a body shop (not me with a rattle can on the drive). It' is a high quality concourse level of finish, All original components that were in good condition were either shot blasted / zinc coated then powder coated in their original colours, or in the case of unpainted parts were soda blasted and treated to a coat of high temperature lacquer before meticulous reassembly. This includes the subrame / brackets / cowls etc etc. The engine block and head are the original ones that the car was built with, but the whole engine has been completely rebuilt. New pistons / conrods / cam shaft / valves / injectors / distributor / oil pump / drive shafts / pipes / hoses / clips etc etc were all replaced with new. The head was ported and polished to optimise the standard level of performance. I have a massive stack of receipts for all of the parts purchased. There is too much to list. Underneath: Totally rot and rust free. New exhaust (as close to standard as possible). New suspension arms / springs / dampers. All brake parts new or shot blast and powder coated.The same for the fuel pump and bracketry. On the road: The cars drives as well as it did when it came out of the factory. The new brake booster / calipers / pads / disks / goodridge black braided hoses pull the car up to a stop in a straight line. The new clutch / flywheel allows you to slip through the gearbox with no notchiness or crunching. All gear related metal components received the same re powder coat treatment and look better than they did when the car was new. All linkage bushes were replaced with parts from VW Heritage. Headlamp bulbs are uprated. Everything works. The engine has all the punch that it had when new. I could go on, but I'm starting to bore myself now. This is not the usual tat, and I won't let it go for a song as I'd rather keep it. Would love it to go to a new owner / collector that will cherish it as I have. Comes with 2 keys. 2 alarm fobs (Cat 1 scorpion alarm with window close and door lock functionality), all original VW literature. Has loads of MOT. Any trial or inspection welcomed.
