It is with a degree of regret that after a 2 year restoration and just over 3 years on the road, I am now selling my Vauxhall Nova Sport. I first owned C67 between 1990 and 1992 but after selling it, lost contact with it. After much tracking down, I found it again in 2015 as a laid up ex-sprint/hillclimb car and bought back my first hot hatch! There is a full story of the restoration on the Performance Nova Group forum but this has been carried out to a very high standard with new (genuine), new (upgraded) or refurbished original parts. It was finished and back on the road in March 2017 and has now completed around 1700 miles since then. The odometer is the original and is currently showing around 5660 miles (so on it’s second time around) – I wanted to retain the clocks/mileage even though the car is effectively new. Genuine reason for sale – I have to switch to auto cars so selling my manual cars.

Shell/body:
Stripped, soda blasted and epoxy primer before a 9 month restoration which included inner and outer rear quarters, floor, front and rear chassis leg repairs including replacement rear spring mounts, sill repairs (keeping the good and original metal / seams where possible), battery tray replaced and full roof panel repair. Fitted with new and genuine front wings, both doors, front panel, bonnet and tailgate plus a new pattern fuel filler neck (powder coated black). Underside painted with epoxy mastic then Upol Raptor in Polar White. Full inside and outside respray with wax sprayed into all cavities and inside doors, quarters, tailgate and bonnet frame. The work on the shell alone cost around £7k using a friend who was a welder/fabricator and another friend who was a car painter – a leading Midlands based retro restorer quoted me around £13k for the same work, excluding replacement panels. Brand new and correct / genuine front and rear bumpers fitted. New genuine lights front and rear, including indicators and number plate fitted. Very good, correct colour gutter trims and new correct door mirrors (with the optional passenger side one fitted). Brand new genuine and correct Vauxhall, Nova and 1.3 badges fitted to the rear. New genuine and correct early mudflaps with rears fitted with the correct bracket to position. The bodywork was then coated in Gtechniq ceramic coatings by Prestige Auto Detailing so is now so easy to clean!

Engine:
The original, matching numbers engine was rebuilt by Mansfield Engine Centre, including 0.5 oversize pistons and the correct (optional) Irmscher cam. Fitted with refurbished original Sport Weber carbs and many new genuine ancillaries including clutch, starter, alternator, dizzy, coil and obvious things like filters and ignition leads. Correct Irmscher inlet manifold and airbox (blasted and powder coated in gloss black), along with the correct air intake hose. New exhaust manifold, system and correct Ashley back box. The car is currently fitted with a now very rare full Magnex stainless system – this, along with the original, will remain on the car if full asking price met. New Valeo radiator. It is running a Filter King regulator, braided fuel hoses with no return pipe. New engine mounts fitted to powder coated brackets. The engine was statically set up by Alan from carbcare when he put the rebuilt carbs on and then rolling road setup by Peter Burgess, making a strong and free revving 97bhp! I therefore fitted a rev-limiter set at 7000rpm.

Transmission:
Brand new F10 5-speed box (W4.29 so great for acceleration), rebuilt driveshafts and front knuckles - with new genuine wheel bearings front and rear.

Brakes:
Front: New calipers, vented discs, pads, braided hoses and kunifer lines. I then upgraded to Tarox discs and Mintex M1144 pads so the new originals (included in the sale) had very little use.
Rear: Powder coated drums with new shoes, cylinders, braided hoses and kunifer lines.
New master cylinder, new reservoir/cap and reservoir seals (ultra rare) fitted to fully refurbished, correct early servo.

Suspension/steering:
Most things (including the rear beam) have been shot blasted and powder coated in gloss black. It has the larger GTE front ARB and tie rods, new Bilstein B14 coilover kit and Powerflex bushes throughout. Corsa B ePAS rack refurbished and used as a quick rack (no power steering).

Interior:
Fully retrimmed seats in the CCS reproduction chequered and genuine new brown fabric - possibly the only car to have had a recent retrim using the new, original and correct brown fabric. Interior is fitted with the best used bits I could find including carpet and dashboard. It has excellent front/rear seatbelts, headlining and sunvisors. Correct rubber floor mats. Mint correct early parcel shelf with working lift cords and minimal fade.

Other:
Original etched glass fitted with the exception of the front screen which is new with a new seal.
The car will be sold with the original and correct 5x13 steel wheels, plus brand new freshly painted wheel trims (5 wheels and 5 trims). Fitted with new Firestone tyres in correct 175/70x13 size. The Ronal 5-spoke alloy wheels shown in the pictures are available through separate negotiation.
Full decal kit fitted by DMB - including sill trims and headlight surrounds. Also had correct number plates, dealer sticker and tax disc holder made up by DMB. New GM battery. New washer bottle and pumps and I even found a new horn! All new GM coolant hoses. Excellent wiring loom with no scotchlocks anywhere - the rev limiter fitted is correctly spliced into the loom! All electrical items function correctly. Lots of nuts, bolts and fittings have been plated in either gold or black. Matching lock set with two keys and new door handles and lock surrounds (correct black). Blasted and powder coated genuine GM fuel tank with new genuine sender and S hose, connected to new tank to engine fuel pipe.

There are probably a few more bits that were done that I haven’t listed, but everything that could be done, was done.

The car won best classic in show at a large local show in 2019 – with a trophy to prove it!

I have just done a coolant flush and change, plus an oil and filter change (done every 500 miles since rebuild) - all with genuine and correct GM fluids and filter.

The price is: £23995 ovno for the car, on the original steel wheels and if the full asking price is met, including both the Magnex and original exhausts.
