Excelsior Autobyk 1949

Excelsior was the FIRST British Motorcycle Manufacturer, they launched their Auto Cycle in 1937, this model has a declared manufactured date of 1949 (see comment below).

It is understood that it is fitted with its original Spryt Mk2 engine, Engine Number S811. The frame number is SA9602.

Whilst this Autobyk is registered in 1949 an earlier log book we have, notes that the vehicle was not new when registered - we believe this could be a pre war model but unsure.

The bike has its original number plate LYA 495.

The bike comes with log book "V5", noting only 2 previous owners (dated from 1979) and it has been family ownership since then.

The bike is in original condition and has been stored for many years. You can see in the photos that it has the original painted fuel tank, and hand painted number plate. It has the front farings that are often missing. It is we believe quite complete but obviously hasn't run since the early 80s we believe. Comes with spare saddle and rear plate light.

More information and / or photographs on request.

Collection only from Plymouth, Devon.
