1965 BSA A65 Lightning Rocket; just stunning For Sale

1965 A65 BSA Lightning Rocket A UK bike from new; registered on the 19th July 1965, this Lightning Rocket is in stunning all-round condition having had a huge amount spent on her and benefits from a 12 volt conversion, electronic ignition, recent tyres, new battery, new wheels and has just had a brand new Lucas wiring loom and full re-wire, as she was suffering from sub-standard wiring and the bike is now all sorted and running perfectly. In addition she comes with indicators as an aid in modern traffic, which are easily removable should you wish to put the bike back to standard trim, By the mid ’60’s BSA had its eye very much on the extensive USA export market and came up with a highly tuned version of the BSA A65R Rocket; the Rocket Lightning. With the US market very much focussed on speed, the BSA designers gave their new bike twin Amal 389/206 carburettors and high compression pistons combined with an optional close ratio gear box to give lively acceleration to over 115mph. This bike has been subject to much work and is in superb condition; with the chrome work all in excellent condition and she is a real eye-catcher and the paintwork is superb in its blue and white trim. When I purchased the bike last year, she had wiring gremlins and it became obvious that it wasn’t worth chasing old problems and that the best (and most costliest) option was to totally re-wire the bike. She has therefore just had a new Lucas wiring loom fitted and the wiring issues have all been sorted and she is running and riding very well indeed now. The bike is a really easy starter and pulls well through the gears and goes like a proverbial train and on the road the bike feels really strong as you would expect from such a sporty 650cc twin. She sounds absolutely amazing (I can send you a link to the bike running) and has the most wonderful throaty bark and gets loads of attention on the road. UK versions of this highly sought after bike are very rare and this example is in just superb all-round condition, is, in my opinion, a far better bike (both in terms of looks, performance and value), when comparing it with a Triumph from the same period. A video of her running can be seen shared -just message me for the link. I can send high-res images of the bike to you via We Transfer if required -please just message me. Viewing most welcome (social distancing to be strictly adhered to) near Henley-on-Thames: RG9 5NB and I can help with courier/ or delivery if required, again observing strict social distancing practices. Running perfectly and looking stunning (the photos really don’t do the bike justice), this lovely BSA Lightning Rocket won’t hang around long, and is only going to go one way in value and offers excellent value at just £5,995
