1969 Jaguar E-Type Series II Roadster (4.2 Litre) For Sale by Auction

For sale by auction on Saturday 18th July 2020 with Historics auctions. Registration PNT 883G Chassis Number 1R9517 Odometer reading 37237 Estimate £69000-£79000 The Jaguar E-Type is a British sports car, manufactured by Jaguar Cars Ltd between 1961 and 1975. Its combination of good looks, high performance and competitive pricing established the marque as an icon of 1960s motoring. The Series II introduced a number of design changes; a wrap-around rear bumper, repositioned and larger front indicators, better cooling aided by an enlarged 'mouth', twin electric fans, and uprated brakes. The most distinctive feature however was the absence of the aerodynamic glass headlight covers, which impacted several other imported cars, like the Citroën DS.Upgraded seats were fitted, which purists claim lacked the style of the originals but were certainly more comfortable. The interior and dashboard were also redesigned; rocker switches replaced the earlier toggle switch system and the engine easily identified by the change from smooth polished cam covers to a more industrial 'ribbed' appearance. This fine example offered in its original colour combination rolled off the production line in 1969. Exported to its first owner in the U.S it is believed the E-Type was left in storage for a number of years. Having covered very little mileage from new this Series II was repatriated to the UK in original barn find condition where an extensive restoration began. The E-Type has received regular yet sparing use over the years and presents in wonderful order throughout; the paintwork is in excellent condition showing little sign of age as is the interior and engine bay which also present in very good order.Included in the detailed history file are many sundry invoices, MoT test certificates and a UK V5 registration document. Expertly restored E-Types, like the one presented here, are highly sought after by collectors all around the world. With the example on offer being in such fine condition, there is no better opportunity to put yourself behind the wheel of one of the most iconic sports cars of the 20th Century.
