I am after 21 years of ownership it is with great regret that I have to part with my Triumph. 1981 X registration T140E. I decided to completely rebuild the bike some 12 years ago and it was stripped to the last nut and bolt. Engine was rebuilt to a high standard right down to the crank shaft bung and tube as I was taught by a well-respected and so knowledgeable triumph specialist. It was never my intention to sell my bike and I have spent a great deal of time on polishing the alloy parts and details. Nothing was sand blasted, all done by hand. The triumph has had new oil in the engine, gearbox and primary. The brakes were fully rebuilt with brake grease and has never had any fluid in since so should be perfect. No fuel has been in the tank or carbs since they were rebuilt. I do have some photos of the rebuild but did not take hundreds as I stated before I was never going to part with the bike. The bile has had frequent kick overs so the bores, rings, valves and sets should be fine.
This is just some of the parts replaced. New fork stanchions Fork lower tubes(NOS),, seals, dust covers, gasket set, new rings, shells, main bearings, Crank shaft bung, engine lock tab kit, mushroom tappet adjusters, Oil in frame oil filter conversion, oil pressure switch, patent plate replaced (with no damage to timing cover)tacho drive, exhaust, handle bars and clips, grips, handlebar switch gear(NOS),, headlamp shell, bracket , bezel and lens, rear lens and holder, head stock bearings, petrol taps, air filters, carb drain tubes, coils, leads, plugs, Zener diode, Seat, brake discs, master cylinders, calipers, caliper cover, flexi hoses, pads, reservoir, side stand fixings, gear lever, kick start, cables, o ring chain, sprockets, side panel emblems, rear shocks, all foot rubbers.
All fixings re-plated in cadmium as factory and any fixings replaced not up to spec. Engine was in such good condition only a light hone and crank polish was required. Valve guides were perfect and just had new valves lapped in. Wheels fully rebuilt, spokes re-plated in cad, new wheel bearings, alloy rims, tyres, tubes and rim tape. Now the bad bits, although all the black gloss parts were repainted (sub contracted) around the swinging arm is showing some surface rust, stanchions have rust marks on them but not proud. Parts missing at the moment are rear pads and pins, Petrol tank rubber cover and badge and lower tank strap, all easily to obtain and not expensive.
You will see I have not fitted the indicators or rack as personally they are not to my taste nor is the centre stand but they are included. I fitted small silencers as these look miles better in my view, I can’t now find the originals at the moment. The triumph will need a battery, the timing, and carbs setting up as it was never finished or started because of ill health. It is best that someone who really wants this bike is to just take it away as I can’t bear to even look at it let alone work on it again. As stated earlier I owned the triumph for nearly twenty years, I know what it worth and have seen what unknown second-hand engines for rebuild sell for, so please no silly offers as I need to be at the asking price or very near. Will soon be tax exempt
