|1967 BSA A65 Lightning:|
I am reluctantly offering for sale my stunning 1967 BSA A65 Lightning.
I have owned the bike for just over 2 years, having bought it from an elderly gentleman who was thinning out his collection of classics.
I was told it was originally an export bike and has been subject to a restoration, with bills in his ownership for over £8000, having the following features:
- Matching numbers
- Paint, powder coated frame, seat and chrome in excellent condition
- tyres in very good condition
- Akront front and rear high shoulder wheels
- Boyer ignition
- Period-style Lucas indicators fitted
- Rebuilt Amal carbs
- TLS front brake
- Full bottom end rebuild ( see below )
- SRM oil pump
- new rear silencers
- new clutch friction plates
Recent expenditure £2000+ in my ownership including a full bottom end rebuild carried out 12 months ago by highly regarded specialist Paul Henshaw of Performance Classics in Llanwrda as follows:
- source new old stock crankshaft with original main journal sizes
- replace timing side bush, correctly machined to suit above
- fit SRM uprated oil pump kit
- replace bearings, gaskets, setup end float / shims etc where required
- reassemble, setup timing and carbs etc
All the hard work has been done, the bike starts first kick thanks to the Boyer ignition, is a real joy to ride and really does go as well as it looks!
I'm looking for offers around £8250, which reflects the condition and amount of work / money invested into the bike.
The bike is located in Stafford and viewings, inspections and test rides ( proof of insurance required ) are welcome by appointment.
Thanks for looking.
