> For sale due to having acquired an even better example, this 26 year old sports hatch is a piece of motoring history, the 480 having been Volvo's first ever front wheel drive car.
>
> With only 43 ES versions left on UK roads out of 270 of this model in total, this is an opportunity for an enthusiast to get a fully roadworthy and very presentable example of the marque. With so few of these quirky and fun models around, and only a handful featuring this beautiful Paris Blue Metallic paint, this is a great chance to get hold of an appreciating classic car.
>
> Because it is a Volvo you can depend upon its quality, safety and solidness. She is 26 years old though, and whilst she is very well maintained and presentable, there are one or two minor jobs needed to bring her to pristine condition. The pictures speak for themselves, however, and even straight out of storage (she's been SORN during lockdown) she scrubs up very nicely indeed!
>
> The 2.0 litre engine fires up first time and provides plenty of power to enjoy the open road. The sports seats, sports instruments and info centre and low driving position make this a really engaging drive, which is a real pleasure. The electrics were sorted via a Dutch specialist in January 2020, with the instrument panel fully refurbished and refitted ahead of the MOT.
>
> As you can see from the pictures, she looks great! The engine bay is extremely clean and all mechanical work on the car was completed before the last MOT, including a full rebuild of the braking system. The overall condition of the body is excellent, with a few very minor points consistent with the age of the car. The main thing is that the rear arches are solid metal - the majority of 480s this age have much worse at the rear end!
>
> Cosmetically she in in great order and a real head-turner. The Paris Blue Metallic paintwork is glossy and comes up brilliant after a wash and polish. A full-body machine polish would bring the paint up to a fantastic standard. The windscreen and all glass is unblemished (many examples of the 480 seem to have cracks - this doesn't!). The interior trim is very good, and although the head lining had started to sag a little at the rear, I have sourced a replacement in good condition. All door cards, storage binaccles and locks are in good condition and working. Underneath she is solid and in excellent order. Jacking points and sills are great. I'd be happy for you to come and have a good look all round.
>
> I only managed a few hundred miles in her before lockdown meant it was sensible to furlough her (SORN under cover in my dry garage). Having now got a long desired 'Celebration' version which I use as my daily driver, I now need the space in my garage, so hence this car has to go :(
>
> I would not necessarily take the odometer reading as accurate, as the car does seem to have had a replacement instrument cluster at some point, although the condition of the car is very good for a 26 year old. Even if it was approaching 100K this would still equate to an average of less than 4K miles per year since new. From the MOT records it looks like the accurate mileage is about 95.5k.
>
> There is a large file of documents back to the 1990s with the car (see photo) including many MOT certs to validate the mileage and history.
>
> She is a real head-turner and whoever buys her will certainly get plenty of admiring glances, waves and people stopping you to ask about the car - she is quite the personality!
>
> As an older, but still very driveable and usable classic, you can expect much lower insurance premiums with an agreed value / classic insurance policy (depending on your history and circumstances of course!). Running costs are low, with excellent economy around town from the modern fuel injected engine. Road tax is what it is.
