1972 Lotus Elan +2 130/5 16v For Sale
Lotus Elan +2 Fully restored 4 years ago, Everything new, from tyres on powder coated alloys, chrome, dash, through to cirrus white paint. Looks perfect, it has aged well over the past four years, while it looks excellent it isn't over restored, it is driven in all weathers and doesn't leak ! Original black interior with a newly restored dash with all working guages, including clock and ambient guage. Every single item has been rebuilt or new. All receipts and a massive build file available. When Colin Chapman was considering options to replace the elan he built the x100 prototype using the 4age engine and t50 gearbox. This Lotus came to me with no transmission, but I wanted something light, not a zetec/duratec, which needs suspension and brakes mods; I wanted something which retained the original look of the car and could be reversed if required. The 4age slots straight in, it even has the engine mounts in the same place as the Ford 1600 and the all aluminium t50 is a lovely smooth gearbox, I could retain the original brakes (including original handbrake location) and geometry and get the benefit of a 16v twincam that starts everytime, anytime flowing through the original exhaust. If I wanted to go for lots of power I could have used EFI and omex ECU, but I wanted a classic look engine bay, so went with weber DCOE40. Mods: Spyder spaceframe chassis Spyder double rear wishbones Spyder UJ/donut drive shafts Protec adjustable dampers all round Braided hoses on brakes and clutch 4age twincam 16v (full rebuild less than 1k miles) (dyno results available) on weber dcoe40 (121) carbs, custom inlet and exhaust manifolds, custom winged and baffled oil pan, hyperpak electronic ignition, oil cooler, lightweight aluminium rad, variable kenlow fan, coolant swirl pot, custom airbox, custom prop shaft, 5spd all aluminium gearbox (full rebuild march 2020) Lotus Elise aluminium gearlever, Motolita woodrim steering wheel. rvi to rvc conversion (electronic ignition conversion to tacho) Sytec twin throttle cable, pressure regulator, electric fuel pump, canister inline fuel filter, copper fuel line. Electric light lifter. Fuel cutoff, electric cutoff, central locking. Despite all the mods, when my new brake servo failed and I called out the AA they thought it was stock ! Build photos available. Since pictures in this advert the sill lip has changed to the correct black. RamAir socks replaced with airbox and servo removed. Location shown by C&C is incorrect, it is located in OX44 postcode. Looks perfect, a joy to drive, only for sale so I can buy back the first lotus I owned.
