1998 Ducati 916 Biposto For SaleI have owned this 916 since 2006, 2 prev owners. Mot passed in August 2020. Its very hard to sell a bike that I have owned for over fourteen years as it brings so many smiles and memories but I don't use it any more and would like a new cycle with the sale of my 916. It is a UK model registered in 1998 with laguna Motorcycles. There are a lot more pictures and details of which I also started a blog to help others ducati916bp on wordpress and why i bought one on blogspot, or search for vinnychoff and ducati 916. It only has two former keepers me and the person before and was originally registered by the shop. Its sitting in my garage with a new engine and is waiting for a new owner. Currently it has 52k on the clock but this was from buying the bike at around 12k. I covered around forty thousand miles on it although now It has a new engine from the seals and bearings up. See below for more detail. The 40k engine is up for sale as parts. I used to use it often once a month to work for a week 50miles each way and it was very reliable. It never let me down only the battery which they used to pack up after a couple of years. After I fitted a mosfat regulator rectifier, this and putting the battery on a charger when at home cured it. It has a new one fitted a while back. Two years ago the bike started to turn over slowly I phoned Dave Robinson Ducati mechanic in London and found out the sprag clutch was worn, also checking the main bearings had failed. I searched around and had Paul Goodhall of pgperformance in Portsmouth, Ducati mechanic rebuilt the engine. When I bought the bike it came with the original engine which had done less than 6k. The crank nut had come loose which at the time was an issue. Rather than fix the original engine as Ducati would not honor warranty, the owner had pro twins fit another engine with only a few thousand miles on it. Now the original engine was rebuilt and is back on the bike today completely overhauled. I had a few issues in the beginning when I bought the bike in 2006 with the termignonis pipes which were not set up correctly and a tps that was faulty. Both of those were fixed earlier on. The chip for the termignoni which is currently on the bike was tuned by a ex racer. You can see the blog for the stories and details. After I kept a note or put videos, pictures etc to help with servicing, changes. The bike although with 52k has an engine with under 7 thousand miles rebuilt (Over 2 thousand pounds). All the frame bearings are renewed, head racers, wheel bearings, all the rear swinging arm, suspension bushes are new. All service parts oil, plugs, filters etc have been done. It needs a oil change in 100 miles as the new engine has only been run a little while. It has not been out since the rebuild as it was off the road and Sorn. The tyres are okay and legal but could do with some new ones. If you look at the pictures you will see its not a mint new bike but in very good condition and has been used. These bikes were made to be driven, I have been to Italy and back with out a issue. One of the pictures is on top of the Stelvio pass in Italy, about 3 thousand miles round trip. It currently passed the MOT in August. A couple of advisories the tyres. I will try to list all the parts it has had renewed. I have kept the receipts from new which is one of the pictures. I also have the spare key, owners books, service manual on disc, tool kit etc. I used to service the bike often and on average change the oil every 5k or less. The belts have been changed several times and currently have the Ducati original ones with the engine build. The following MOT history shows how I used the bike from buying back in June 2006. refg01041998 Owned since 11/06/2006 MOT History May 10 2001 7627miles May 2nd 2003 8994miles May 9 2002 7808miles April 22 2004 11753 miles June 1st 2005 11983 miles May 15th 2006 13748miles I bought the bike in June 2006 May 11th 2007 13960miles May 9th 2008 21551miles May 8th 2009 25838miles 8th July 2009 27114miles 13th July 2010 31914miles June 30 2011 35082miles July 27 2012 38840miles 30 August 2014 48338miles 23 June 2016 49250miles 7th Jan 2017 51058miles 08 August 52457miles I have some parts which might be included with the sale of Spare wheels, Engine not complete but has barrels, heads bottom end, Complete Ventura Rack the standard original exhausts with standard ECU chip. I have started to advertise these elsewhere. Some of the new Parts fitted Engine rebuild, Receipt and parts renewed over two thousand pounds. Paul Goodhall from pgperformance. Ex Snells Ducati mechanic. Chain and sprockets Brembo sintered road pads front and back New speedo drive. Temperature switch Fuel pump, o ring gasket There have been lots of other parts renewed from the swinging arm, suspension arms, wheel bearings etc. I have lots of old Service bills although in my ownership carried out the servicing and shims, belts etc. See the videos on youtube of vinnychoff. There is also previous service history which is in one of the pictures. As the bike is sorn, it needs tax and a Mot to be put back on the road. I would prefer collection and bank transfer for payment. Hopefully I have given you an idea of how I have looked after the 916 and the depth of detail to keep it up and running. I will be sad to see it go but it will be nice to see it go to a new owner that will use it. Any further questions let me know. The bike is also advertised elsewhere.
