In 1977 Renault developed a Group 4 A310 with which Guy Fréquelin won the title of French Rally Champion. Building on this success, Alpine offered a customer version of the Group 4 in late 1980, but only six cars were produced, and ultimately dropped by Renault to promote the arrival of the R5 Turbo. In parallel, a kit was proposed to modify a series production model to group 4. It included large, ventilated disc brakes, large hubs, chassis reinforcements, and a more direct steering.
The car on offer uses the characteristics of the Gp 4 which were modified with this kit at the beginning of the 1980s. Thus, it benefited from a thorough preparation, its Ferry engine is new, and it develops 261bhp on the test bench. A Mignotet oil pan, and a Rallye exhaust have been fitted, and a Boulogne air box will come with the vehicle. Cooling was by a large capacity radiator with additional circulator and two fans. Transmission is a 5-speeder, with dog clutch, relayed by a self-locking bridge with limited slip differential. The adjustable R-tec suspension system has been refurbished, and an approved central aluminum fuel tank has been installed. The interior is fitted with a Jacques Point roll bar, bucket seats, approved 6-point harness, and automatic fire extinguishers. Shod with specific Gotti rims and weighing less than a ton, this A310 is a model of efficiency.
Its current owner has long distinguished himself in the French VHC championship with his A110. For him this A310 was a logical evolution. Being particularly rigorous and wishing for an optimally tuned car, he did not hesitate to entrust his car to Jean-Claude Andruet during the Luc hill climb race to get his impressions. As he is aging he decided to part with his car, the preparation of which had been for him an adventure of several years. It has an up-to-date PTHN that will allow its future owner to take part in VHC events. It is also comes with a prepared engine, installed by Marc Mignotet. A fine tribute to the legendary Calberson A310, which had such an impact at its time, this example is deserving of the attention of racers and collectors.

En 1977, Renault avait mis au point une A310 Groupe 4 au volant de laquelle Guy Fréquelin remporta le titre de champion de France des Rallyes. Forte de ce succès, Alpine proposa une version client de la Groupe 4 à la fin 1980, mais seuls 6 exemplaires furent produits, finalement sacrifiés par la Régie pour favoriser l'arrivée de la R5 Turbo. En parallèle, un kit était proposé pour modifier un modèle de série en groupe 4. Il comprenait notamment de gros freins à disques ventilés, de gros moyeux, des renforts de châssis, ou encore une direction plus directe.
L'exemplaire présenté reprend les caractéristiques des Gp 4 qui furent modifiées avec ce kit au début des années 80. Ainsi, Il a bénéficié d'une préparation rigoureuse, son moteur Ferry est neuf et développe 261cv au banc. Un carter d'huile Mignotet, un échappement Rallye ont été montés, et une boite à air Boulogne accompagnera le véhicule. Le refroidissement est confié à un radiateur de grande capacité avec circulateur additionnel et deux ventilateurs. La transmission est assurée par une boîte à crabots à 5 rapports, relayée par un pont autobloquant à glissement limité. Le système de suspensions R-tec réglable a été mis à neuf, un réservoir d'essence central homologué en aluminium a été installé. L'habitacle est équipé d'un arceau Jacques Point, de sièges baquets et de harnais 6 points homologués, complété d'extincteurs automatiques. Campée sur ses jantes Gotti spécifiques et accusant moins d'une tonne sur la balance, cette A310 est un modèle d'efficacité.
Son propriétaire actuel s'est longtemps illustré dans le championnat de France VHC avec son A110 et pour lui cette A310 était une évolution logique. Etant particulièrement rigoureux et désirant une voiture réglée de façon optimale, il n'a pas hésité à confier son volant à Jean-Claude Andruet lors de la course de côte du Luc afin de recueillir ses impressions. Ce n'est que l'âge avançant qu'il se sépare de cette voiture dont la préparation a constitué pour lui une aventure de plusieurs années. Elle dispose d'un PTHN à jour qui permettra à son futur propriétaire de prendre le départ d'épreuves en VHC. Elle est, en outre, accompagnée d'un moteur préparé, monté par marc Mignotet. Bel hommage à la mythique A310 Calberson qui a tant marqué les esprits à l'époque, cet exemplaire mérite l'attention des pilotes et des collectionneurs.
