• High-quality restoration
• One of the 33 LHD models
• Ordered new by the “King of Hollywood” Lew Wasserman

Estimate: 375.000 – 475.000 €

This rare Continental coupé with bodywork by Park Ward was ordered new by Robert “Lew” Wasserman, who left his mark on the American film studios during a long and brilliant career. He was, notably, director of Universal Studios. A biography devoted to him was evocatively titled: “When Hollywood had a King: The Reign of Lew Wasserman”. This car provided him with a classy means of transport between Universal Studios and his home in Beverly Hills, in the prestigious foothills of Los Angeles.
With its elegant and perfectly balanced bodywork, as well as details such as the small round taillights, this coupé was one of a very limited series of just 33 left-hand drive cars produced by the British coachbuilder. In 1990, the car was bought by Peter Fisher, who was based in London and was then the leading Bentley Continental specialist. He embarked on a two-year restoration on behalf of a major French collector, the founder of the famous ready-to-wear fashion brand “Chevignon”.
Today, the restoration has lost none of its grandeur and the car is in concours condition. The magnificent “Black Pearl” paintwork is faultless, while the interior allows its passengers to enjoy the atmosphere of an English gentlemen’s club, with its profusion of very slightly patinated red leather, its all-wood dashboard and wooden door cappings, and all the details befitting such a prestigious model. Under the bonnet, the 4.9-litre six-cylinder is the original engine. The car is equipped with some desirable options such as air-conditioning and power steering.
It should be remembered that at the time of its launch, the Bentley Continental was the fastest and most expensive four-seater in the world. In this Park Ward coupé version, it is more exclusive still.
