1990 Jaguar XJS 5.3 Coupe – 14,000 Miles from new!
Beautiful XJS Coupe in absolute timewarp condition – an incredibly rare vehicle in this condition, with this mileage and history – only 1 previous owner from new!
I acquired this car back in 2017 through a friend who knows the original owner – an elderly lady who could no longer drive the car but had owned it from new from Paramount Jaguar in Derby since the 1st August 1990. Through all her years of ownership, the car wanted for nothing and was kept in a dry stored garage its whole life. Every MOT is present in the documentation, up to the point it was stored for four years in 2013. In fact, since 2004 it has only covered around 600 miles.
The car was already in incredible, original condition when I picked it up, however there were a few little blemishes on the bodywork and perished rubber bushes etc.., so I made the decision to have a full restoration done, as the car was such a great base for a potential concourse example.
A total of nearly £16k has been spent on the restoration, involving the renewal and replacement of virtually everything underneath the car (suspension, brakes, bushes, hoses, subframes etc.. etc..), so that the mechanicals matched the spotless condition of both the exterior and interior of this wonderful, appreciating British classic. I firmly believe this has got to be one of the finest examples around today and although not quite concourse, would be a perfect car to raise to that level of excellence.
It really is like stepping back in time – everything is present; from the old tax discs, the old MOT’s, the original Jaguar manuals, the sheepskin seat protectors, the original Jaguar tool kit, even a boxed original Jaguar RAC enamel badge. The interior still smells new, the rear seat has never been sat in and even the driver’s seat looks like the car has just come from the Jaguar showroom. Every dial, gauge and instrument works perfectly, even the original fuel computer and air conditioning. To complete the restoration, the car has just had a new fuel pump fitted and both the cooling and Transmission systems flushed and refilled. The engine bay housing the mighty Jag V12 is spotlessly clean and again just looks like it has come fresh from the factory. The car drives perfectly and flew through the latest MOT with zero advisories. It has just been fully detailed, including Nanolex ceramic coating on the paintwork and the sale includes the private number plate, a tailored cover and masses of receipts, documentation and history.
Extremely rare to find an XJS in this sort of condition, especially with this heritage and mileage, so this represents an incredible, unique opportunity to own one of the finest examples of this appreciating classic in the country.
