In Old English White with a red interior.
A pilot purchased this fine original BT7 Healey in November 1959, it was he who painted the roundel on the boot lid, but was sadly killed in a plane crash in 1961 and in 1963 it passed to the Lyle family of Newcastle, well known Alfa Romeo dealers, and stayed with them for the next fifty years. For most of this time the car was displayed in their showroom and used sparingly, it covered only 258 miles between January 1985 and July 2012, and the current speedo reading of 37,939 miles is believed correct. The superb unmolested condition of the car certainly backs the very low mileage up.
The Healey was purchased by an enthusiastic motoring family in 2013 and they instructed Orchard Restorations of Heathfield, long time Healey experts, to carry out a very thorough re-commissioning exercise which came to over £6,000 and took sixty five hours. They have since covered 5,000 miles in the car and it remains one of the very best driving Big Healeys out there. It has never been rebuilt, nor does it need it, the underside and chassis are in excellent, rust free condition, the steering, suspension, brakes and running gear have been expertly overhauled where necessary and engine is beautifully smooth. Everything works as it should.
The red interior has mellowed nicely, all the chromework is original and in fine condition and the hood and tonneau have aged nicely. The paintwork has a few blemishes but the car appears rust free and without any of the usual Healey problems.
The Heritage Certificate confirms that this is a fully matching numbers example, and the car has exactly the same specification today as when it was built including a black hard top from new, which fits perfectly, disc wheels, a heater and overdrive. Extras fitted in period are a Blaupunkt radio, a bullet mirror, and Lucas spot lights. The Healey Mk11 grille is a later fitment.
The original and distinctive registration number 1234 BB remains with the car.
A very good history file includes old MOTs, the invoice form Orchard Restorations and notes and documentation from the 3000's time with the Lyle family. There is also the original Hand Book.
A genuine, unmolested and very well cared Big Healey with long term enthusiastic ownership and very low mileage.
