1958 FORD SQUIRE - MEGA RARE ESTATE, JUST DELIGHTFUL! SOLD

|WOW, how rare is this? I first became a car-mad kid back in the 1950s but, even then, the Ford Squire and its sister estate car the Escort were pretty rare. I couldn't tell you how many years it is since I have even seen one!|
The Escort and the Squire were launched on the same day as estate car versions of the Ford 100E. The Escort was the basic with painted grille, very little chrome and a more basic interior. The Squire was described as the deluxe version with chrome grille and headlight surrounds, chrome side strips and lots more chrome around the windows etc. Both models featured the innovative idea of opening up the entire load bay entrance by lifting top half of the "rear door" upwards and lowering the bottom half all the way down so that it sat on the rear bumpers. The two rear seats bases then simply life out and the rear back rest folds down to create the full load area.
This mega-rare Squire is just delightful. She is solid, pretty and sounds great. Bloody hell, this is beginning to sound like a 1950s commercial! Anyway, she truly is. Lovingly re-painted in period colours of the day, she reminds me of old fashioned banana split confectionary from around the same era. You can see that her original trim was light blue - she was a navy coloured car - but that the front seats must have lost their covers at some time and have been replaced by what you see in the photos. They have however been re-bolstered. The rear seats look to be the originals. And, when you lift them out and look at the metal structure beneath, it is in incredibly good and original condition. She is a willing starter, sounds ever so sweet and drives well. Couple of quirks to mention here: Her ignition light is staying on and the temperature gauge suddenly takes a huge leap from cold after about three or four minutes of idling even although the water is quite clearly circulating as it should with a hot top hose and a nicely warm bottom hose. There's a sender unit or gauge at fault I would suggest.
She is not a new car, nor is she a three-year-old used car. She is a piece of antique motoring history and, as such will have quirks and maybe even the odd fault. Anyway, she is what she is. These old gems - in this case 62-years-old - are sold as seen. Should you buy without viewing, then she is sold on the basis of the advertisement you have read the photos, or extra photos, you have seen as well with the assistance of any answers to questions you have received from me. Treat these classics with the respect they deserve and make sure they have love, time and effort lavished on them. Even the very best need permanent on going care. Practically all will have undergone a degree of restoration work or improvement at some stage. If it's a three-year-old car dating from the 1960s that you are after, then you are out of luck. Short of acquiring a Tardis that is.
Anyway, thanks for reading. I am here to answer any questions you may have and, remember, that I also provide a delivery service. Martin the details below)
