Sadly, I have to sell this as I need the room. Bought 8 years ago in running order and I then stripped it down ready to restore. As these things go, I never got round to restoring it and have just run out of room and time. However, it’s a great opportunity to either do a nut and bolt restoration or just spend a few hours tlc on it and use as a running restoration.
I’ve built it back again as this is the best way to show you what’s there and easier for you to spot what’s needed. Also you can see/hear it running. It starts first or second kick and runs & ticks over smoothly. When I got it, the lights didn’t work because the wiring was a mess so I got a decent pair of correct switches & loom so this will help but I haven’t got the time now to get everything working. I’ve got a TS250 parts book which has a specific electrical diagram. you’re welcome to photocopy if you want. It’ll also be good reference for ordering any spares needed.
So that you can hear it run easily, I’ve wired it up with a spare new Suzuki switch just to turn the ignition on/off.
Gear selection is fine but it needs a chain to ride it. Clutch is OK. As you can see, it’s pretty much all there. With the obvious incorrect item being the rear fender but this one works fine although it has the rare steel Lower rear fender complete with the equally rare rubber skirt. The tail light’s off a GT750 but is complete and will work when wired up. The most obviously bling item is the front mudguard which I had triple chromed for another project which never got used so I’ve included it in this sale. It is MINT and I mean concors. That alone is worth a few hundred pounds so if you were thinking of a full restoration there’s a big saving right there. The shocks were also going to be used on the other show project and are grade ‘A’standard and in lovely nick. The engine has good compression and runs crisply. I’ve overhauled the carb and the slide was unmarked and looked like new, so hasn’t seen much action.
There are a few items that I’ve added which are in great nick like the airbox & filter and the battery box.
Stanchions are spot on and unmarked.
The clocks are correct and work. I have a really nice pair as part of a separate sale if you were interested but that is an additional deal.
As you can see in the pics, there is a set of ‘M’ decals if you wanted to do the paintwork back to silver, but the bike’s rideable with the paint as it is if you feel like rocking the full 70’s Roger De Coster vibe!
Tank has no dents.
There’s a brand new fuel tap too tho the original one works OK.
The seat base is absolutely solid. They rot like peaches normally but this is superb. Also has a couple of new covers for it thrown in.
The handlebars on it are my own ones and just used to show the bike built up and are not included in the sale. These are easily available.
The important ‘S’ head bolts are all there.
The exhaust is solid but has been patched on the down pipe. The heat shield chrome is in good nick.
I have the chrome lower front yoke shrouds that the side reflectors usually fix to but I forgot to assemble them with the forks.
Rims are solid, in good shape. The chrome on them isn’t perfect but still presents pretty well.
So in summary, for a bit of fun work and a few bits to source plus powder coating, zinc plating and some polishing, this will be worth £4K+
A great investment.
I don’t mind any questions.....other than the old “I’ll give you half what you’re asking” Be respectful please as I’ll ignore stupid offers.
In fact it’s probably best to speak to me anyway to take you thru the good and bad points.
I’m in Lewisham which is in South East London. Postcode SE135PZ and viewing is encouraged.
I don’t mind dismantling again if it helps transportation and I know for a fact that it fits in a Mini which means it’ll fit in virtually any car.
I can accommodate collection by a courier/transporter within reason but you have to organise and pay for it.
