1983 Ford Escort Mk3 RS1600i Sunburst Red RS 1600i For Sale
Ford Escort RS1600i, 1983 A Registration. Sunburst Red. HPI clear, Matching numbers, original Bristol Street Motors service book and handbooks. Original RS1600i shell. MOT July 2021. 130750 miles. Rare one with a number of options from new – opening quarter windows, sunroof (still has its Ford sunroof visor fitted), electric windows and central locking. Also has electric aerial fitted (not working currently). Has original spec RS1600i battery tray fitted rather than a standard escort item like so many. Seats are nice and tidy with the badges all present and correct and no torn or worn bolsters. Uncut parcel shelf is present too. Scorpion Stainless exhaust fitted. Stacks and stacks of history, I have owned it for over 3 years and the gentleman I purchased it from had it for circa 7 years, it has 11 previous owners total which is low for one of these. Always garaged, was restored looking through the history early 2000’s and is still very presentable today. Over the last 12 months it has had the underneath and engine bay stripped and stone chipped and painted to keep it fresh. Also replaced in this period was suspension front and back including bushes and wheel bearings, brakes, brake lines, fuel lines, engine given a full service including cam belt (engine was rebuilt (re bore and new pistons and shells etc) a few years back (all receipts in the history file)) and has not done many miles since (5000 miles since full rebuild). I have also not long fitted 4x brand new yokohama tyres on the original perfect condition RS1600i alloy wheels (spare is correct alloy also). In essence it does not need a spanner on it or any parts now for years to come. Running the twin coils as you can see in engine bay pictures but with a modern ford crank sensor wired in for reliability. Runs and drives perfect, the brakes are the best escort RS1600i brakes I have ever experienced. As you can see in the photos the body is very tidy and is very presentable. Nice useable and presentable classic that are rare to see now. Costs me £120 to insure a year (Lancaster insurance) on classic policy with agreed valuation certificate of £18000 – nice cheap classic motoring as will be tax exempt in a few years too! Seats are very tidy and unworn on the bolsters as can be seen in the pictures, hard to find trim in this condition now, the dashboard has minor crack but presentable. As the car was painted as part of its excellent restoration a number of years ago (circa1998) there are now a few minor stone chips around the car but as can be seen in the pictures ashes and polishes up well! Rev counter is temperamental at idle but works fine further up rev range, doesn’t bother me but comes with a spare set of RS1600i dash clocks if you wish to swap the tachometer over. Priced very fairly considering the insurance valuation of £18k (lasts for 2 years) – find another in this condition at this price – if you do go and look at that one then call me if you don’t buy it. If the car was concours and low miles it would be advertised for well over £20k, it’s not so I am not asking that – I am being sensible so expect anyone viewing to be the same. I will not talk numbers over the phone or by message, you cannot value a car without seeing it. To me its worth the advertised price and no less so if you think the price is too high then please don't waste your time and more importantly mine. I don't need the money so silly offers will be ignored. Like all classic fords It is only going to go up in value whilst parked in the garage. Only reason for sale is I have now bought an Abarth Spider as a weekend car and the RS will simply not be used as I personally have 4 cars in total. Hence as it is not a desperation sale I will not accept silly offers as I don’t need the money or the space, if it has to sit in the garage then so be it.
