I am trying to figure out how to do this bike justice so I may end up meandering somewhat, but what I have for sale here is possibly the earliest known example of the already super rare 750S3 outside of Moto Guzzi's own collection. As you will know only 950 of this type were made in total.
Protocol dictates that I shouldn't post frame and engine numbers on here, other than the frame starts with VK21500* and the engine VK350**, but I suppose they can easily be figured out when I advise that it was the 3rd machine ever to be produced according to several reliable sources.
I purchased this bike back in 2011 from a private UK collector who had owned it since around 2000. He in turn purchased it from a UK national who bought and rode it whilst living and working in Italy bringing the bike back to England with him around 1996. The bike was never registered in the UK until I purchased it in 2011 and so has a remarkably low recorded mileage of 12,767. This is accrued from 18,260km in Italy and 1421 miles when in England. I was fortunate to purchase a new, old stock, zero miles speedometer when I bought the bike and fitted it for its very first MOT test where the certificate shows only 3 miles.
The bike, whilst not perfect, is in remarkably good and, believed, pretty much original and, most importantly, unrestored condition and retains the majority of its original parts.
The original parts include Borrani rims, which spin straight and true, Brembo brakes, brake pipes and brake pads (!), rubber air-cleaner box and grill, Lego switch-gear which works perfectly, handlebar grips, foot-peg rubbers, tool tray, Tommaselli Daytona throttle, and stainless steel mudguards. The Borrani rims are in fine order and all the spokes are tight. I have them shod with Avon Roadrider 90/90-18 tyres which, of course, have only done 1421 miles.
Whilst the exhausts are not original they are the super-desirable 1970's, not modern CE marked reproduction, Lafranconi Riservato Competizioni items in near perfect condition and sound superb. The chrome on them is excellent but I believe they have been re-chromed along with several other plated items by the previous owner. The shock absorbers have been changed at some time but I have what I believe to be the originals but they could do with a rebuild and re-chrome. I also have the original Aprilia "greyhound" headlamp and kilometre speedo should the new owner wish to ship back to Europe. The current headlamp is a modern item for driving in England on the left. You will also notice that the front indicators have been moved to the forks by a previous owner.
The bike starts easily and runs and rides superbly. It pulls like a train, sounds like thunder, and still corners with great stability thanks to the classic Tonti frame.
I have an extensive history file containing paperwork from its time in Italy and the UK which measures around 35mm thick.
Just to reaffirm the point, this bike is not a mint condition restoration but is, I believe, an original condition machine with a signs of patina but which is far too good to even consider restoring; remember, a bike can only be original once!
