1966 Triumph Vitesse Mk1 2Ltr w/overdrive For Sale

Body off Restoration (2004): Fantastic condition, professional restoration in 2004 and all filed receipts indicate the restoration cost in 2004 at just over £20,000. Restoration completed by M.W. Restorations in Saffron Waldon, Essex. Have a look at their website and form your opinion on the quality of their work. Restoration included full bare metal body off restoration including all bulkhead and front chassis, underside of boot and bonnet (full photo documentation can be shown) refitted with many new parts, suspension, exhaust, new MKII unleaded engine, trunnions, poly bushed, Goodridge brake hoses, new discs, radiator, the list goes on and on. Restoration is documented in photos, just contact me and I can send the file. History and Documents: Every piece of history and receipt back to 1999. Original Vitesse owners Handbook included, Vitesse Haynes manual included MOT & TAX: being a 1966 historic vehicle then this is now MOT and Tax exempt. However, I have always kept and maintained with annual MOT and will be provided with new MOT for your peace of mind. Body Condition: I rate this as A1+, it’s absolutely gorgeous. Always, always garaged and dry stored. All body panels are original metal Triumph parts, no later inferior panels and no fibreglass or filler anywhere. All panel gaps, door gaps and bonnet boot fittings are spot on. Mohair hood and zip out rear window and upgrade and much nicer finish than vinyl roofs. A couple very small blemishes which are shown in the file photos, these are minor paint bubbles but these have been there since the restoration so it doesn’t appear to be new damage. The front grill has a minor crack and something that I haven’t yet got around too. But hey, part of owning a classic is having something to do right?. Absolutely solid throughout and rust free, yes, rust free. Pictures indicate underside which has always been sealed, its solid, original panels and all gaps have been treated with dinitrol. Convertible vs. Saloon Body: This is a later convertible conversion as chassis code is DL not CV it is considered that more convertible Vitesses’ exist now than were actually made. I knew this when I bought it but having seen the quality of the car I had to have it. Engine Condition: The restoration in 2004 included a brand-new Stage II Triumph Mk II unleaded engine with the higher bhp. And the ‘J’ Type overdrive which works faultlessly and sounds lovely when you drop the overdrive in with the switch of the gear stick. New engine installed at mileage 90466 so the new engine has done 12,000 miles. Runs perfectly, no quibbles, sounds like, looks like and smells like a 1960’s sportscar. What else: Twin shotgun stainless steel chrome sports exhaust – with the 6 cyclinder 2ltr engine this sounds amazing! Fitted with 6 branch stainless steel manifold. Upgraded Corbeau seats as part of the restoration at a value of £800. Original Motolita Steering wheel. Fully sound proofed inside doors, floor pans, gearbox tunnel with top grade Dynamat. Front 3 point retractable seatbelts and rear lap belts. Super rare wheels: 5 x Very rare original Dunlop 5.5J wheels (a period 1960’s item and Super rare and very valuable) including spare. I had to buy these rusty at £100 each and they have been stripped powder coated balanced and fitted. New chrome hubcaps (even these are waxoyled inside) wheels were verified and purchased by Triumph Club member. And no… I will not sell the wheels separately, they come with the car. Featured in Practical Classics Magazine: This Vitesse is featured in Practical Classics magazine (July 2018 issue) as part of a magazine shoot, feature in The Times and The Independent when the car was used for a photo shoot and placed on the Lynton & Lynmouth Cliff Railway to recreate a 1960’s picture. Also featured on Devonlive news site – google Cars on the Cliff Railway and you will find a link to this triumph Vitesse and an interview from me! Featured in Triumph Club Magazine: This Vitesse has also featured in the Triumph Sports Six Club Magazine a few times and I will include a load of back copies of the TSSC magazine with the sale. April 2018 included a mock cover shoot of this Vitesse and a full article about the classics on the Cliff Railway and write up about the car and the owner. Triumph Club Member and Agreed Valuation: The car / owner is a member of the Triumph Sports Six Club (TSSC) member and been involved with several local Triumph club events. The car is well known in the local TSSC North Devon group. The car has an agreed and photo documented Triumph Club insurance value of £15,000. Touring & Shows: The car travelled to the 2018 Le Mans Classic and spent four days in France covering loads of miles with no problems or breakdowns. The Vitesse has been displayed at numerous car shows around Devon and Cornwall and undertaken several weekend road trips around the Cotswolds, Devon and Cornwall and always gets the attention it deserves. Spares: I have some new spares that I will include, filters, fan belts, thermostats, radiator caps etc and any other bits that I can find they are related to the car. They are generally left in an emergency spares kit during longer journeys – these are 50yr old cars after all. Why am I selling: I just have another project (1970’s) BMW and just need the space. Have loved and lived with this car for 4 years and will be sad to see it go. More questions or photos: Any questions just call 07738 448354 and I can send links via email of restoration photos and further photos or videos of the car running. I have a file that I have taken this weekend of about 150 photos and I can also send links to the original restoration photos. I am an honest seller, Triumph Club member, classic car enthusiast and you will not be disappointed in the quality of this car. When at shows it is always one of the best examples and to be honest, I haven’t yet seen a better Vitesse. Feel free to view. Car is in Bideford, North Devon. Good Luck – any questions or more photos phone me (Rob) 07738 448354 – Bideford, Devon
