I purchased this beautiful Ducati in 2009 from its first owner who bought it in November 1975 from Vic Camp Motorcycles of Walthamstow. It was one of the last 2 750 Sports imported into the UK (the other going to Mick Walker Motorcycles of Wisbech).
Fastidiously maintained by him for 34 years, it has been in my collection for the last 11 years, with occasional use to keep it exercised.
It was the subject of an extensive test by Classic Bike magazine (Jan 2013 issue) who concluded:
"I'd expected the 750 Sport to be a poor relation to an SS. Instead its the most impressive old bike I've ridden". Fellow tester Kevin Smith, who's entertained a lifelong disdain of twins old and modern, was similarly smitten. "I've never liked Ducatis", he said after parking the Sport up for the last time. "They don't thrill me. But I finally get it. That bike is... gorgeous, exotic, built for the love of it."
Having previously owned an SS, I concur that it only loses out to the SS with regard to the desmodromic valve gear, but at a fraction of the price gives just as much satisfaction and sheer joy of an iconic motorcycle.
Due to my advancing years, it is now time for someone else to enjoy and cherish this classic Italian thoroughbred.
