Richards of England are proud to present this fully restored DB6 Vantage Specification. First delivered to Glasgow in 1967, this stunning matching numbers example has been returned to its original exterior colour of Platinum Silver.

The DB6 is considered by many to be the last 'real' Aston and was introduced in 1965, updating the DB5. Although recognisably related to the Touring-styled DB4 of 1958, the DB6 abandoned the Carrozzeria Touring-developed Superleggera body structure of its predecessors in favour of a conventional steel fabrication while retaining the aluminium outer panels. The Tadek Marek-designed six-cylinder engine had been enlarged to 3,995cc for the preceding DB5 and remained unchanged. Borg-Warner automatic transmission was offered alongside the standard ZF five-speed gearbox.

Chassis number ‘DB6/3280/R was sourced from a private collection in Japan. Where it is believed that the car spent much of its life, albeit unfortunately withering away waiting for its next custodian. Following importation by the current owner, a ‘body off’ restoration to 'concours' standard was commissioned and completed by marque specialists Richards of England, with no expense spared.

Following its 2,500-hour restoration process, this DB6 is something of unparalleled quality. For example, fabrication of the chassis, Superleggera frame and aluminium panel work contributed over 800 hours alone. The newly instated aluminium front nose cone was hand formed over an original buck, carried out by industry experts, Body Lines of Olney. The latest rust prevention products and processes have also been applied following the fabrication stage. Hundreds of photographs detailing all aspects of the restoration stages and processes can be found on our website, providing the future custodian documentation of the craftmanship.

- details above

The paintwork has been finished in its original colour option of ‘Platinum Silver’ with the only ‘pardon’ from the build sheet being the Red Connolly Vaumol leather hide (VM3086), arguably one of the most ‘timeless’ combinations. Leading onto the interior, you are met with the beautifully restored dashboard and iconic Smith’s clocks, Becker radio and Wilton Wool carpeting, which allows the owner to experience the quality and tactile feel of something restored, not at least forgetting the distinctive aroma of the Connolly hide. All honing to something that delivers a very elegant and satisfying experience, something that will never not excite, when met for its next road trip.

Driving this example, is where this car is best appreciated, and one becomes accustomed to something of quality. Following the comprehensive engine rebuild to 4.2L Vantage specification, featuring triple weber carburettors. This has been combined with a 5-speed manual gearbox upgrade. ‘3280’ will allow the new owner to embark on a journey of nothing short of satisfying results. A complete mechanical overhaul to the underside of the vehicle, suspension, brakes, axle/differential, fuel system & engine bay has taken place. A completely new wiring harness has been installed, often an afterthought among many restorations. It is worth noting various subtle and sensible upgrades were chosen to enhance the driving and ownership experience.

Notable upgrades and equipment following the restoration:

• Comprehensive engine rebuild to 4.2L Vantage specification with uprated cams
• 5 speed manual Tremec gearbox
• Complete axle/differential rebuild
• High torque starter motor
• Avo rear shock absorber conversion
• Uprated Harvey Bailey anti roll bar kit
• Zircotec coated exhaust manifolds for reduced heat output
• Becker Europa radio with Bluetooth & handsfree capability
• Full stainless-steel exhaust system with titanium rear silencers
• Uprated Smith’s interior blower motors
• Uprated window lift motors for smoother and quicker delivery

Documenting this example and its restoration is truly exhaustive and cannot be appreciated from an online shop window, a visit and test drive is highly recommended at ROE’s rural Lincolnshire premises.

Comprehensive road testing and detailing to the highest standard has taken place prior to the marketing of this motor car. On purchase you will be presented with a leather-bound photo book, hand crafted in the Connolly hide used on this motor, detailing all aspects of the restoration process through a large assortment of photographs. Further photographs will be included on a USB chip within the history folder. A one-year guarantee is also included with all our in-house complete restorations.
