I bought this Standard in June from the previous owner who had spent seven years restoring it from the ground up, the restoration was detailed in Triumph World magazine, I have printed and electronic copies of the articles. I have decided, the car lovely as it is, isn’t really my thing and so instead of completing the outstanding items I’ve decided to sell it on and let the new owner complete as required. I have done circa 40 miles in test runs and completed a number of items, including new distributor, leads and plugs, radiator repair, and a number of other small items.
The main item to complete is a new soft top canvas, the frame and other items are with the car, as is the old soft top as a template. The side screens are also with the car, they are in good condition apart from the Perspex which has become opaque. You could just use the car as is on sunny days as I have been doing.
There is a large amount of mainly used spares with the car, including, gearbox, block, head, wheel, set of hubcaps, trafficators, clutch, sump, coils, axle, suspension, brakes, transmission tunnel, headlights, starter, manifolds, carb, flywheel, speedos. Probably £500 worth of spares.
The number plate has been valued at £800, not that I would take it off after all the years its been with the car.
There is a log detailing £6400 worth of expenditure without all the many hours spent on this car. The car has a V5 in my name, heritage certificate, old style log book from the 1960’s, handbooks and lots of invoices.

Information from the previous owner below
Work over the last seven years started with a total strip down to the bare chassis, which was then blasted, a couple of minor repairs made and professionally painted. The body was also professionally rebuilt and painted in two-pack. The suspension was stripped and rebuilt with new pins made up locally, the spring leaves separated and greased before being reassembled and wrapped in Denso tape. The brakes were similarly overhauled, the engine was stripped and rebuilt, as was the back axle and propshaft. The four speed gearbox was in good order and was not stripped.
The radiator was re-cored, a new carburettor fitted, plus the starter motor, wiper motor and dynamo were all rebuilt. I have converted the car to 12 volt electrics, made up a loom from scratch and included a discreet fusebox and set of relays to make it safer, and also fitted flashing indicators instead of semaphores and an electric SU puller fuel pump.
There are new floorboards, a bespoke gearbox cover and a new rolled propshaft tunnel made professionally. The seats are from a Triumph Herald, the rear seat is original and rebuilt/recovered, the side panels are matching red vinyl. All the brightwork has been re-chromed, and the steering wheel refurbished.
Bargain at £5500 which seems to be about half the price of others for sale.
