Parilla 175 Olmasa ‘Speciale Vannuchi’ Racing Motorcycle.
Parilla was an Italian motorcycle manufacturing company, founded in 1946 by Giovanni Parrilla. Parrilla dropped an 'r' in his name for the company title. He began by designing, building and racing a 248cc single cylinder, ohc motorcycle, which he modified to take a dohc. After this, he produced a variety of road bikes with 98cc, 125cc and 250cc engines. In 1952 motorcycle designer Soncini was appointed and improved the range of motorcycles available.
This Parilla 175 is a one of a kind racer and special for Vannuchi Milano. These were mainstays in Italian clubracing as well as town-to-town Moto-Giro competitions. For safety reasons, these races on public roads were often limited to 175 cc machinery and all interested Italian manufacturers produced bikes of this deplacement. The offered Parilla is an stunning example of an Italian racing bike from the time when Italian machinery ruled many roadracing classes. It has the lean and look of racing motorcycles at the time, lacking any compromises like a headlight, muffler or kickstarter. The clip-on handlebars and rear set pegs let the rider adopt the classic racing crouch in the days before riders hung off their bikes to secure higher cornering speeds. The Parilla is in superb condition.
