1958 Austin Healey 100-6 unmolested original 1st paint For Sale
We bought our Austin Healey 7 years ago from a dealer in Amsterdam who had imported her from California after being laid up since 1969, that was 42 years! From the moment i saw her i realised that she was a one of a kind, original, unmolested and as far as i can tell 1st paint car, with panel gaps to die for!! Hence i have never brought myself to remove that originality from the body, true Patina reflecting her 62 years of age. Removing further degradation with regular care, not over coating with lacquer which dulls with age and cannot be removed. So- we set about making her road worthy rebuilding what we had rather than replacing with new low quality parts, including to but not limited to the following; Electrical system overhauled, including a new loom. Brake overhaul, including new wheel cylinders, linings and hoses Engine inspection, cylinder head and sump removed. Nothing untoward found, their bores still have their honing marks, so rebuilt using Payen gaskets through out and a spin on filter added, for peace of mind (original canister with the car) All fluids replaced. Ignition system overhauled, points, plugs, capacitor, leads Fuel system, carburettors rebuilt, Facet fuel pump and regulator / filter added for reliability (original SU pump included) Cooling system, water pump replaced, radiator inspected AOK, hoses replaced All suspension bushes replaced, front and rear. Steering joint boots replaced. Steering box oil renewed New exhaust system and mountings, front to back, in mild steel to maintain that fabulous 6 cylinder exhaust note Wheels, stripped, inspected and painted, splines in fantastic condition. New tyres, tubes and rim tape installed. Gear box, overdrive, prop and axle lubricated and found to be perfect. Underbody, rust buster chassis paint applied to floors and chassis rails. Cavities filled with Dinitrol. Wings removed and Under arches painted old english white Body repairs, extremely minimal!...repairs to ends of sills behind rear wings (last 3 inches with new gusset panels) Boot floor replaced. I have reams of receipts with her. She retains her Morris green engine colour, which is somewhat of a rarity, apparently used over the light green for a very short period of time due to supply issue during the Abingdon manufacturing transfer She benefits for having the later twin port head and overdrive gearbox which operates seamlessly. She is all matching numbers and has the heritage certificate with her. The result has been fabulous. She is utterly reliable completing long trips to Spa, 2 x Lemans, The Dordogne. She is now 100% a turn key car. She gets great feedback where ever she goes, with people often shouting "awesome car", as we burble by!! An old lady in France got on bended knee and kissed her back quarter panel when she realised that we had driven the 500 miles through France...muttering bravo bravo...truly memorable moments! Any inspection, drive, viewing welcome. I can and will respect social distancing. Any questions or to view please just message. Many thanks Nigel.
