1994 Mk1 Phase 2 Renault Clio RT 1.4 manual in Bleu Nattier
Current mileage is 46090 which will rise with infrequent use
5 previous owners on the V5c, which is present and in my name, but effectively two family owners passed around siblings.
The bodywork is in fabulous original condition as pictured, with just some minor blemishes - the wee ding on the passenger side wing and some very light scratches on the front passenger door. The eagle eyed will have spotted some tape on the passenger wing mirror which I have not investigated.
I have included a picture of one rear arch to give the overall impression of the bodywork. I haven't found rust anywhere, certainly not in the arches or door wells.
The interior is pretty much perfect. no broken switches or latches etc. The upholstery is in fine shape with no tears. The carpet is fine with the drivers footwell heal patch virtually untouched. I have bought new thick rubber mats to protect the carpet further.
As you can see it wears the original factory alloy wheels and Renault mud flaps
I have the book pack but bizarrely there is no stamped history. I have some bits and bobs of paperwork but in honesty these don't really amount to much. Clearly the car has been maintained better than the paperwork.
At 45654 miles (436 miles ago) I replaced the cam belt, water pump and ancillary belts. The coolant has been flushed and filled with Renault Type D coolant - the expansion bottle was changed too. A new headlamp was also fitted to replace the chipped one that shows on the last MOT. Garage receipt available.
The wiper blades were renewed by the previous owner just before I bought it, and the exhaust looks like a recent fit (although possibly hanging a little lower than it should)
All the electrical bits work as they should - electric mirrors, front windows. The central locking works but I only have one key. The fog lamps have been replaced by modern units but don't look out of place.
The car drives really nicely - the 1.4 engine being a willing unit and the fuel economy quite remarkable.
There are some faults that I know of.
The classic (manual) sunroof leak. Yes, I'm getting the drips after rainfall. At first I thought this was the aerial as the fixing had crumbled. This has been replaced. But the car still leaks a bit.
The classic Mk1 heater blower problem. It was blowing just fine then decided to stop. The fuse is okay. I should imagine its the resistor. THIS IS NOW FIXED
Not really a fault more an observation. Sometimes there's a little hesitancy in acceleration. I suspect some new plugs and leads will sort that out.
So there you have it, a lovely little MK1 Clio with the phase one steering wheel in great condition. I know its not perfect and have listed the reasons why above, but I also know its rare to find one with such good bodywork, at thats the real battle with these.
I am only offering it for sale as CV19 has changed my business plans and something larger would suit me better. My price is firm
You are most welcome to view the car which is located in Penarth not far from Cardiff
I'm sure I will have forgotten to mention something, any questions, don't hesitate
