OPTION ! OPTION ! SALE SUSPENDED - Very rare and exceptional Austin Healey 3000 MK III phase 2.
This car has it all: history, equipment, condition.
This is not a common Austin Healey and these kinds of exceptional vehicles are rarely offered for sale.

1 / Provenance: exhibited in a museum - world famous guitarist.
Here is its story:
First of all, it is a truly rare genuine "home market" car, confirmed by its original "green log book".
Built on the 22-23rd November 1965, it was delivered on the 24th November 1965 to the Wimbledon dealership and registered in January 1966 to a Mr. Bernard Keasley of London.
The BMIHT Certificate also confirms that the British license plate it was equipped with prior to the vendors ownership, MLT101D, was issued in greater London. The suffix "D" at the end of the registration corresponds to the year 1966.
It was delivered with the following options: spoke wheels, heater, adjustable steering column, laminated windshield, Roadspeed tires and the precious overdrive.
It is not clear how long the original owner kept the car, but in 1977 it was in the hands of Paradise Garage in London who sold it to a David Jackson from Alcester. According to a letter from Mr. Jackson, which appears in the vehicle history, the car was in good condition except for the sills which had been replaced at the time. Some parts had been rechromed as well and it is this owner who added the red coves to match the interior.
The latter, living mainly in Kenya, resided on average only one month a year in Great Britain. The Austin Healey was therefore little used during its ownership. Also, he had lent his jewel to the museum "Stratford Motor Museum" and it is the museum that sold the car on request of the owner in 1981 with, according to the MOT's present in the file, only 30,300 miles on the clock. The penultimate owner was nobody else than the legend KK DOWNING, founder and main guitarist of "Judas Priest", hard rock group which appeared once again in the international headlines on June 6, 2020 following the death of George Floyd, who was detained on the ground by a police officer for 9 minutes without being able to breathe: the New York Police radio was hacked for three nights long, broadcasting their famous title "Breaking the Law".
KK DOWNING only added some 4,000 miles to the car, specifying after a few beers when he sold the car in November 2011 that he had had a lot of fun in the car, especially in the company of pretty ladies ...
The current seller, being the next and last owner, bought the car back in November 2011 and has again added less than 3,000 miles to the car, currently readIng less than 37,000 miles on the odometer !!!

2 / Equipment - Condition
The car came out of the factory with the following options: spoke wheels, heater, adjustable steering column, laminated windshield, Roadspeed tires and the precious overdrive.
The car is matching numbers : body + chassis + engine numbers are all correct!
It has been fully restored by a renowned garage in Belgium over a period of 4-5 years, without limit of costs, from the chassis up!
This is a restoration of the highest quality, confirmed in particular by the door alignments rarely seen on these cars.
It is as shiny above as below and is "show quality" without being "over-restored".
Some parts have been kept untouched, as the rare original steering wheel and the chromes, being to the eyes of the vendor in good condition, giving the car a magnificent character.
The upholstery, including all panels (!), door tops and dashboard, is covered with full high quality leather coming from a well known British supplyer.
The mats are made of high quality wool.
The color of the upholstery was chosen at the request of the owner in the same colors as its original red interior.
A very rare works hard top (there are supposedly only some 200 - 300 existing in the world) was unearthed and fitted to the car, painted in the beautiful Old English White / Ivory of the body (being the factory colour of the car), giving the car a more sporty appearance. It ads to the beauty of the model.
The body has been fully restored with alloy panels all round except for the doors remaining in metal for the original feeling when opening and closing the doors.
The original panels and the probably original soft-top are at the disposal of the purchaser.
The doors close exceptionally well on this car. Their alignment are truly barely seen on these cars.
The engine starts and runs perfectly as you would expect. The car has a wonderful sound thanks to its double stainless steel exhaust.
The rocker cover is a rare chrome version, nowhere to be found on the market anymore. This would have been a rare dealer option of the day. The overdrive has just been completely overhauled and works perfectly. It is equipped with electronic ignition for better reliability. The tachometer mechanism has been adapted accordingly and all dials are working as they should. When acquired by the current owner the engine kept its temperature perfectly. To preserve it, it was then fitted with a second oil radiator. During the restoration the car was also fitted with Evans Waterless Coolant.
The car has just been delivered to the owner, just coming out of its fastidious no expense spared restoration.
An expert from a world-renowned British company saw the car and confirmed to the owner on this occasion the exceptional quality of this Austin Healey.

In short: a car that literally stands out, exceptional for its history and for its quality, matching numbers, delivered with a nice history file and its original "owners manual".

Provenance and quality are important when investing in a car. This one is a piece of British history, which only ads to its future value and collectibility.

A rare complete collector's cd-box set from "The Priest" accompanies the car.

Thank you for your comprehension.

The car is located in Belgium, near Brussels.
