This bike is being sold on behalf of a deceased member of both the VMCC and the Scott Owners Club who has owned it for about 11years. It is in complete and running order in good oily rag condition. It was the last bike Mike rode in October 2019 on a VMCC run and has not been used since.

The regn number is UM8139 and the V5c shows a regn date of February 1927. This is clearly incorrect as the frame number is 42*9M and the engine number is DPZ42*9 which both date to 1936. The DPZ engines were originally 498cc but this one has been converted to 596cc. There is no paperwork showing how the bike came to have a 1927 number.

It was inspected in August 2020 and started but run only briefly as the radiator had been drained for winter. It started fairly easily with the old petrol in the tank and sounded a little clanky at tickover but when revved ran quietly and correctly. For obvious reasons it was not ridden but was fully roadworthy when parked up in October 2019.

The pilgrim pump is driven from the magneto end and is fitted with a Gerry Howard reduction gear. The frame is fitted with a crossover rear brake hence the right hand exhaust and cranked kickstart. The silencer is of the Howarth type available through the SOC. The gearbox is med/close with a foot change. The magneto was rebuilt by Sean Hawker (Bristol) about 10 years ago.

It is registered historic so is tax free and MoT exempt. The last recorded MoT was done in June 2013 at 13136miles. Current mileage is 13759 so it has done very few miles in the last 7 years as most of Mike’s riding was done on his other bikes.

The comment from a friend and fellow Scott owner was “ I have ridden my Scott alongside this Scott on many occasions and whilst it is a bit rattly at idle, the bike performs as it should with no issues”.
The bike is located in Neston, Nr Corsham, Wiltshire.
