For Sale: 1956 Jaguar XK140 SE FHC for completion.

This car requires a small amount of work, paint and assembly, and is a very solid starting position. It is complete bar a few items which are easily obtainable, e.g. rear bumpers, window seals, headlamp bulb units (sealed units can be used instead), headlining and door cards. There may be other small items to collect but nothing major. The headlamp chrome bezels and structure to hold the bulb or sealed units are present.

The bodyshell is in excellent condition and was media blasted and primed to prevent corrosion. The odd dent is present but nothing problematic. The chassis is also in excellent condition and was media blasted, primed and painted, with new shock absorbers installed. The chassis is effectively ready bar brakes and pipes. Doors, bonnet and boot lid are all in excellent condition, as is the fuel tank.

The interior is original – all seats in oxblood red. Whilst the interior is useable, the seats and carpets would benefit from refurbishment, with the originals being used as templates for the new items.

The engine (not a matching number) was overhauled a few years ago and although out of the car turns over freely. Manual overdrive gearbox is present as well, also out of the car. Both Engine and gearbox are on a dolly for ease of transportation.

All glass is present, including the hard to obtain rear window.

The dash is complete, but the veneer has succumbed to the rigors of time. I do have a brand new veneered dash which cost a small fortune and is included in the sale.

New front bumper, new rear view mirror, new rear lights, lenses, headlight spears, bumper overriders and badges are included as well as a new exhaust.

Steel wheels and wire wheels come with vehicle. Front hubs for the wires are included. Rear hubs need to be purchased if using the wires.

A period accessory in the form of an original luggage rack is also included which is in excellent condition.

There’s a ton of stuff that comes with the car that is present in various boxes. The car is approx. 90% complete, with the items identified being required.

All paperwork including heritage certificate, log book, VIN plate, body tag, etc., are present and the car has an interesting registration number.

If you are a competent builder, then the car can be assembled and finished for minimum expenditure.

The car will need to be trailered.

This presents an excellent investment opportunity given the on-the-road prices these vehicles command.

Genuine reason for sale.
