1972 Citroen SM 2.7 LHD For Sale

- Technology completely revised by experts - Interior completely new leather in color cognac - Wanted 2.7-liter carburetor version - European delivery, last registration since 1988 in Germany Vehicle History: With the takeover of the Italian sports car manufacturer Maserati in 1968 Citroën finally transferred the development of a compact 6-cylinder V-engine to the development department in Modena. At the time, engineer Giulio Alfieri developed the smaller V6 engine, which was much flatter, mainly because of the 90° engine angle. Flatter because the engine should also fit into the engine well of the DS, which was intended as a development vehicle at Citroën at the time. The rough engine running, especially in the lower engine speed range, was a consequence of the 90-degree angle and was less suited to the smooth appearance of the SM than to the more aggressively designed mid-engine sports car from Maserati, the Merak. This shared the engine with the SM but had more displacement and more power as standard. Many technical world innovations were used for the first time with the SM. Added to this is the futuristic design penned by the then Citroën chief designer Robert Opron. The SM polarizes to this day: you hate or you love him. The streamlined shape with low air resistance, which was unusual for the conditions at that time, made the SM the fastest front-wheel drive vehicle in the world at that time, with a top speed of over 220 km / h. This Citroën SM has been completely serviced and overhauled by an SM expert.
