Part of a well maintained private collection, this is one of two Rolls Royces I acquired simultaneously some years ago. Sadly, this wonderful car is not being driven enough, and this, coupled with a need for storage, prompts it’s sale.
Originally painted in Ivory, the car was resprayed Light Oyster by marque specialists a number of years ago. There is a comprehensive photographic record of the work that was undertaken.
The dark brown piped magnolia interior is in excellent original condition, having been very lightly re-Connolised at the time that I acquired it. The carpets are Cumberland Stone, also piped dark brown.
The matching numbers 6.75L engine was originally fitted with twin SU carburettors, which were replaced in 1977 with a single Solex 4-barrel carburettor. I had this modification reversed when I acquired the car (I still have the Solex unit), making for smoother acceleration throughout the range.
The car was owned by one family between 1978 and 2011. In 1988 the odometer reading was 33,363; it now reads just over 48,300.
The car drives beautifully and is a source of great pleasure. It has been well maintained by marque specialists throughout its life, as evidenced by a full (but not too fat) history file.
There are two jobs that need doing. A perished door seal (now replaced) resulted in water ingress into the driver’s footwell, just as I put the car in storage last winter. As a consequence the driver’s side carpet rotted (the floorpan structure is fine), and I have not got round to replacing it, due to lockdown (the damage is also hidden by the over-rugs). There is a small amount of paint bubbling under the rear window rubber (the rubber is probably the cause of the problem and needs replacing). Again, I haven’t yet undertaken this work. The price stated aims to reflect the likely cost of these two jobs.
