This car boasts a raucous 4.7 Litre (289ci) Peter Knight engine, good for c318bhp. (Daventry-based Peter Knight is a renowned V8 engine builder with many accolades to his name, including his engines having achieved 1st & 2nd at the 2019 Goodwood Revival TT). This Tiger further benefits from having been prepared and maintained by Tiger Guru, Jackie Cochrane, of JC Restorations, County Armagh. It’s a true privilege that he has always looked after and supported this car, which testament to the combined efforts of JC and PK has never put a foot wrong.
For rallying exploits, this car houses a full roll cage (with the ability to unbolt & remove the front section), alloy radiator, both sump and gearbox guards, Minilite wheels, competition pads & rear shoe linings, halogen headlights and spotlamps, 72-litre petrol tank, full 4-point harnesses, Corbeau fabric reclining seats, Peltor intercom system, fire extinguisher, map lights and courtesy lights, hydraulic jack and period Lucas reversing light.
Since its last outing in 2019 it has been re-prepared for a Rally which was ultimately cancelled in 2020 and therefore has not been driven in anger with all its new trimmings, which include: two new coils, two new master cylinders, new McLeod clutch, new Tony Law manifolds, new starter motor, new air horns and replacement radiator fan with manual/automatic operation.
Our car was subject to a complete body restoration in 2002/3 and painted Red which was its original colour, though it has since been painted again to a reasonably high standard in 2016 too. Unusually, this car also has a hard-top, (though it’s not offered in as good condition as the rest of the car), plus fibreglass vented bonnet (as photographed), original bonnet, and as a little nod to the Works cars of the period, this car has vented front wings to emulate those.
A generous spares package includes replacement fan belts, spark plugs, starter motor, oil filters, electronic ignition, seals, solenoids, brake pads, brake shoes, wheel bearings etc…..
Offered with V5C, FIVA Identity card, a host of past invoices, spare keys, the aforementioned spares package and a few other bits besides…. Get yourself rallying in 2021, and do yourself a favour, and make sure you get behind the wheel of something both entertaining and capable like this Tiger!…

The Sunbeam Tiger was developed by the Rootes Group and Carroll Shelby as a budget alternative for the AC Cobra 289. By changing the engine from the Alpine by the Ford small block V8 260Ci, they created quite a spectacular sportscar. Most of the Tigers went to the USA, but it remained quite rare with a total of only 71
