1973 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona LHD For Sale

This is a wonderful restored example of the most sought after Coupe of the Seventies, a 1973 Ferrari 365 GTB/ 4 Daytona, Factory Left Hand Drive, desirable European Spec, Italian car from new. Our car is finished in Grigio Argento with Nero Leather interior, THE most amazing, modern and stunning Colour scheme for a Ferrari and is in a lovely restored condition and ready for its new home. It has been assessed and Classiched by the Ferrari factory in 2015 and comes with its known history report from Marcel Massini tracing its history from new. This car was supplied to its previous owner in 2015 by a well respected London Classic Car Dealership and the asking price at the time was £775k, the market has corrected over the last couple of years, to your benefit, and this car is now available for a fraction of that price.

'It's a hard muscled thoroughbred, the Daytona - easily the most awesome and yet disciplined road-going Ferrari in that firm's brilliant quarter century of existence. The Daytona isn't fast – it's blinding. It will eat up a quarter-mile of asphalt in 13. 2 seconds at 110mph and scream out to 175mph - or it will slug through traffic at 1, 500rpm with the Sunday manners of a FIAT. It is the perfect extension of its driver. You can cut and weave through shuffling traffic with the agility of a halfback, or lope down the freeway with the piece of mind that comes from knowing you can contend with anyone's incompetence. To say, after you've driven it, that the Daytona is desirable doesn't begin to sum up your feelings - you would sell your soul for it.' - Car & Driver, January 1970.

Our car was completed on 17th April 1973 and Delivered New to official dealer Motor S. A. S di Carla Allegretti e C, in Bologna, Italy. Later that month the car was sold to its first owners, Gaetano and Alberto Zafferri, successful paper and cardboard manufacturers near Parma, Italy. This car was to replace another earlier Plexiglass Daytona they had enjoyed. In 1976 the car found its way to Los Angeles, USA, the car was repainted red by Junior House of Colours in California at this time and was spotted around the area during the seventies. Moving forward to 1985 the car was offered for sale by Walt McCunes, Modena Imports of La Brea, California, in the LA Times with 24k Miles on the clock. The car immediately found a home in Switzerland so travelled back across the Atlantic to its new owner, the architect, Rolf Glur, who in turn sold the car in the late eighties to Dr Fritz Hartmann of St Gallen, Switzerland. The car arrived in the UK in 2014 and a period of restoration was embarked upon with well over £50, 000 being spentbetween 2014 and 2016. The car is now in a beautiful restored condition, needing nothing, finished in its original colours and with Classiche Certification having been carried out in 2015. The car had its entire Air Conditioning restored last year also for regular use. The car is now showing a creditable 90k Km's or 55k Miles from new. She is UK Registered, all EU Taxes paid and is ready to take pride of place in any Ferrari collection.

Every Ferrari is, to a greater or lesser extent, a 'landmark' car, but few of Maranello's road models have captured the imagination of Ferraristi like the 365 GTB/ 4. The ultimate expression of Ferrari's fabulous line of V12 front-engined sports cars, the 365 GTB/ 4 debuted at the Paris Salon in 1968, soon gaining the unofficial name 'Daytona' in honour of the sweeping 1, 2, 3 finish by the Ferrari 330P4 at that circuit in 1967. Pininfarina's Leonardo Fioravanti, later the famed Carrozzeria' director of research and development, was responsible for the influential shark-nosed styling, creating a package that restated the traditional 'long bonnet, small cabin, short tail' look in a manner suggesting muscular horsepower while retaining all the elegance associated with the Italian coachbuilder's work for Maranello. One of Pininfarina's countless masterpieces, the influential shark-nosed body style featured an unusual full-width transparent panel covering the headlamps, though this was replaced by electrically-operated pop-up lights to meet US requirements soon after the start of production in the second half of 1969. Deliveries commenced in the second half of 1969 and the Daytona would be manufactured for just four years; not until the arrival of the 456 GT in 1992 would Ferrari build anything like it again.

This is the cheapest example of a Daytona that we could find for sale anywhere in the world at the moment, and it is also one of the very best! LHD is great for European cruising and future re-sale , She is available for any inspection, we own our cars outright and any trades or exchanges are welcome, cars, watches, even boats!

The Ferrari 550 Maranello was first introduced to the public as the top model and successor to the Daytona in 1996 . Given a 5.5 litre V12 (485hp) under the bonnet coupled to a manual 6-speed gearbox it was intended to be a ‘softer’ kind of GT taking the place of the F512M . Even though soft , various (private) teams ...
