Ferrari 365GTC- CBY91G – Vin: 12115
This 365GTC was originally delivered to Dick Protheroe, a famous racing driver and Ferrari collector, in March 1969. The original specification of the car, from the Maranello correspondence is Grigio Mahmood (light grey) with black leather upholstery. There is a Maranello service invoice from 1970 indicating Mr Paul Fletcher, another racing driver and car collector, bought the car at the mileage of 7131. From 1971, there is a Maranello invoice to Mr. T C Harrison to retrim the seats. The Harrison family had a major car collection including GTO's and Testarossa's.
Mr Fellows of Red and White Laundry Ltd then acquired the car in 1977 from who there are numerous photocopies of correspondence in the file. When sold to Mr Passey in 1978 there are invoices from Graypaul who prepared the car prior to his purchase. It is thought that during Mr Passey’s ownership the car was painted red. The car was then sold to Ludlum and Sons Butchers ltd in 1979.
It was then sold to G W Provan in 1984 who kept the car until 1986. During Mr Provan’s ownership the car was repainted green. The car was then acquired by Robert Beecham in 1986 (bills from Maranello Concessionaires) who in turn sold it to Paul Michaels of Hexagon of Highgate in June 1987.
Following this it was sold to its last owner Mr. Allmand Smith in 1988.
The Mileage of the car is thought to be low; correspondence in the history file suggests that the speedo was changed some time in the 1970s with the mileage in the 7,000’s. Furthermore there are invoices in the file from Graypaul to Mr. Fellows at 754 miles dated September 1977, an invoice from Graypaul to Mr. Passey in October 1978 at 2031 miles, an MOT from 1980 showing 3270 miles plus further MOT’s covering the intervening period up to the most recent from 2009 with a mileage of 6770.
