Reluctant sale of my lovely 1969 low mileage, very straight and unmolested Herald 13/60. I became the 5th owner 8 years ago and in that time it has provided me with utterly reliable and enjoyable service. The mileage stands at 55,200, with a superb engine and interior, along with receipts and many MOTs going back to 1998 to back this up.

Engine and Mechanicals

Always starts instantly and benefits from electronic 'fit and forget' ignition, Powerspark coil, silicone leads and new plugs. The engine is quiet and pulls strongly right from cold, with no smoke and minimal oil consumption; reflective of the low mileage. Water pump was replaced a couple thousand miles ago and the Stromberg carburetor has been fully rebuilt during my ownership for peace of mind.

The drivetrain is quiet (by Herald standards) and there are no issues to report. Steering is sharp as you'd expect with one of these and the trunnions are in good order. Gear change is tight and no there’s no issues with the gearbox. The brakes pull the car up straight and work effectively, however the front pads will require replacement within a couple of thousand miles.

Body and Chassis

The bodywork is in good honest condition. All interior and boot floors have never been welded and are in very good condition. The bonnet structure is excellent with recent replacement of O/S front wing with a complete quality panel supplied by TD Fitchett. Bubbling is beginning to show on the rear arches and door sills, which will need addressing at some point in the future. The bolt on cosmetic lower sills require light repair. The car wears it's original paint on the upper half and the vehicle paintwork in general varies from ok to excellent and does come up very well indeed after a compound and waxing.

No hidden rust - any imperfections are clearly visible. Leftover cellulose paint matched to the original paintwork is supplied with the car as are the original 13/60 'beauty wheel trims'.

The chassis is generally very good. During my ownership, the N/S rear outrigger has been properly replaced with a quality Chic Doig replacement. The rear boot outriggers will probably require replacing within a couple of years.

The interior is excellent and reflects the mileage of the car. Aside from a tiny nick on the seam of the driver's seat, the seating and door cards are in perfect condition, as is the headlining. Removable LED footwell lights are fitted, which aid practicality at night. The original carpet is sun bleached in places and worn on the driver's side. I opted to keep it as the quality is superior to modern replacements. Black carpet dye can be supplied with the car if you wish. Boot compartment comes complete with the original pop down rubber mat.

The horn circuit requires fettling on the lower steering column and the fuel gauge is currently reading on the optimistic side - I will try and address these matters if I can.

All in all, this is a super original car that will give great pleasure for years to come. Any questions or viewings are welcome. Many thanks
