From a deceased estate and in that ownership for the past 10 years. Only 14k miles covered in that period.
Originally purchased new in Jan 1992 by the GEC corporation for use by its chairman Lord Weinstock as his chauffeured personal transport at a cost of £66k.
In metallic Oyster Grey, 6.8L auto and with all the usual Bentley refinements.
Just over 1700 eights were sold between 1984 and 1992, putting it just ahead of the Brooklands and Turbo R and making it something of a rarity, all of which adds to its appeal. Now very much rarer and available for the price of an average MGB, so can’t fail to appreciate as time passes. Rolls and Bentley specialists will also point out that the cars of this era are the ideal ones for the DIY-minded owner, offering the convenient benefits of the fuel injection system but without the complexity and cost of the later electronic suspension.
Comes with a massive history file, right back to its time with GEC. It appears that no expense has been spared in maintenance and upkeep – the last major bill in 2017 was for a brake overhaul costing over £1300 since when the car has only covered 300 miles.
Known current issues as identified at the last MOT are brake pipes and a wheel bearing out of adjustment – advisories only. The car also has an exhaust manifold blow from the rh bank. A common issue that can be sorted by someone with some patience and dexterity. Also now needing some light cosmetic treatment to bring it up to a good standard – e.g. rear bumper attachment, tidying up the front and rear of the sills, wheel-arches etc. where surface rust can be seen (these can be seen on the photos). The history file shows some work and prevention measures have been taken to prevent serious structural corrosion from developing.
Viewing and a thorough examination advised and encouraged.
Will be sold with a fresh MOT.
Located in East Lothian 30 mins drive from Edinburgh.
Priced to sell at £5450 with some room for sensible negotiation.
