I have reluctantly decided, that through lack of use, its time to give someone else the chance to own my now rare 1974 Triumph 1500 TC in Honeysuckle Yellow and in original condition from new.
One owner from new (Haywards Heath) until my purchase in 2011 with a genuine, verifiable by paperwork, 51775 miles on the clock! Last MOT’d 31st July 2017 @ 51134 miles
This is not a concourse car as it has been a used and maintained classic so there are small age-related blemishes to the paintwork but overall, in very good condition for its age as is the chrome work.
One nice additional feature not found on my classics is that the factory original plastic door protection remains on the rear and front passenger doors. Also I have the original typed order form from Caffyns in Haywards Heath as well as the Triumph vehicle passport.
There are box files of other related papers that comes with the car as well as some rather lovely flowery retro folding chairs! Also, included, an original British Leyland maintenance manual, Haynes workshop manual and original dealer brochures.
Mechanically she’s just about “run in” with no knocks or unusual sounds from the engine and idles like new.
4 speed manual gearbox has never been a problem in my ownership but for transparency I should mention that the gearbox does “whine” in second and third.
She would benefit from a tune up and balancing to the twin SU’s as she’s a bit lumpy probably through lack of use.
The car benefits from:
Stainless steel exhaust (2013)
New front brake callipers and pads
New shoes to the rear
All rubber water hoses replaced
Recent clutch master cylinder overhaul (July 2020)
4 very good tyres
4 original hubcaps with centre badges (some kerbside denting to nearside one not caused by me!)
Original 1974 tax disc
Ziebart rustproofed when new
Points to note:
Small hole to front o/s sill
Worn/torn fabric to drivers seat base
Surface rust front door pillars (can supply extra photos)
I have 4 boxes of various Triumph Dolomite odds and whatsits that comes with the car as part of the sale either as spares of useful autojumble for the new owner to sell on.
Finally, please do your research and only arrange to come and look at the car if you are genuinely interested as timewasters are not required to view.
