This is a rare example of the very early fastback, manufactured in early 1969 with matching numbers: 20m3130261.conmact breaker points are situated behind the cylinder block, not on the outside of the timing casing. External rev counter drive as per preceding models. Registration chj75g.the machine was purchased in canada back in 1987 by the very same enthusiast owner who finally sold it 32 yeasr later in 2019, having not used it on the road since 1992, as per the tax disc!
there is a significant and valuable amount of documentation regarding its original purchase in canada, importation and original mot certificate against vin, pre uk registration. All of this provenance adds to the desirability of this machine.
since purchasing, we have replaced certain bolt on parts but the engine has not required any work. We have had it running well, quiet with sound transmission. There is a video on our ebykes facebook page.i now find i do not have the ooomph required to kick start the bike, despite a strong spark, fuel and excellent compression so have not had it running for a little while.
the bike wet sumps, as most do .an anti drain valve could fix this quickly and very cheaply this but ,due to mixed reviews of their reliability , this has not been done.
this rare specimen is therefore offered for sale as it stands, at what we consider to be a competitive price.part exchange for a significantly cheaper , more modern machine may be considered
