This is the words from previous owner I have recently taken this car in P/X please read full description of car ? Thanks
Here for sale is my lovely 1946 Chevy fleetmaster coupe.
I have only owned this car a few months, when I bought it it had been laid up a few years and needed some recommissioning to get it back on the road.
The car it's self is super super solid, on top as well as underneath. Obviously the car is 75 years old and does have a few surface blemishes here and there, but I like her showing her age, I've had many classic cars over the years and I drive them all , I don't have a garage queen that only comes out for shows... the same goes for this Chevy . I have used this car every day since I bought it ( unless it was absolutely tipping down)
It's has its original 216 straight 6 engine which has only done 61k miles from new, 1000 or so of which are mine in the few months I've had it.
It was purchased from the original owner in around 2013 when it came to UK, used for a while here before being laid up for a couple of years.
When I bought a it I had new brake cylinders on all 4 corners, brake pipes on the front , new vaccume on the dizzy, new battery ( still on its 6 volt system) and a new carb... the original carb was a manual choke, but the replacement is now an auto choke.
This engine runs like a Swiss clock!
When I first got the car it still had old cross ply tires that were fitted in 1975!! As you all know cross ply's are horrible and they did make the car wander a little.
I opted for new wheels and tires , and bought some brand new smoothies and radial tires and the difference in drive quality was monumental!
They are slightly wider and fill the arches perfectly.
I also had the car lowered to give it a better stance and it looks awesome.
Originally the car was a pale blue colour but was painted green in the 50's , the paint does show its age now, it may come up better with a good mop but personally like I said before I like it showing it's age.
The interior is all original.. although it does have seat covers that were put on it many many years ago , they are in perfect condition. The door cards and headliner are stained and show their age but it looks bloody awesom
