I’m selling my Lapis blue BMW E28 525i. Car was produced in June 1983 and registered one month later in the UK. It was ordered with M30 B25 engine coupled with 5-speed Getrag manual gearbox. Exterior finished in navy blue color and pearl beige interior, central locking, power windows, power mirrors and brown tinted glass. Quite impressive equipment as for early E28.

I’m classic BMWs enthusiast, I have restored multiple E28’s, E24’s and E34’s in the past.
I bought her in early 2018 with various issues and spent thousands to bring her to this immaculate condition. There’s no rust on her. New front wings have been fitted along with new front lower valance. I’ve repaired sills jacking points and front floor plans. Repairs were not serious thanks to non sunroof model. Restoration of this car is documented. She was fully painted apart from the roof as it is in very good condition. Painted in original 173 paint code - Lapis blue by reputable car sprayer. Underbody and cavities have been rust proofed and protected using Auson Noxudol products.

Mechanically she didn’t need much but few areas have been properly addressed.
Oil sprayer bar banjo bolts in the engine head have been changed and properly torqued, the engine is very quiet and to be honest I’ve never heard such a quiet M30 unit before.
New gasket for rocker cover was installed, the same with inlet manifold seals, new water pump was fitted also new fuel pump relay. To let her breathe more freely I’ve put designated Pipercross air filter, she pumps out the exhausts through full, custom made, stainless steel exhaust system. Engine rocker cover has been painted and lacquered, high temp resistant paint used. To complete under bonnet look I have ordered and fitted new sound proofing mats. To keep any moisture out of the boot I’ve bought and glued new boot seal. She was completed in early weeks of 2019 and has started running again during spring 2019 with new engine oil and filter, new gearbox oil and new diff oil.

The whole suspension is new, rear sub frame was removed, cleaned, rust proofed and all bushes changed with polyurethane one’s. Differential mounting rubber is new as well. The ride is pleasant and comfortable. Suspension lowered slightly for better handling and sporty look. No rubbing on all four corners. I will try to list new parts fitted:

- new Meyle front strut bearings,
- new Sachs front and rear dampers,
- new Meyle tracking arms,
- new Meyle control arms,
- new steering links,
- new front polyurethane ARB’s bushes,
- new front ARB’s links,
- new rear polyurethane ARB’s bushes,
- new rear ARB’s links,
- new set of lowering springs made by KAW Germany
with lowering ratio 40/40,
- new dust covers for front and rear struts,
- new gearbox rubber mounts,
- new rear polyurethane trailing arm bushes (comfort grade),
- new rear sub frame polyurethane main bushes (comfort grade).

Brakes were overhauled with brand new discs and pads for both axles. New braided hoses fitted to front brakes, new brake dust covers and new braking fluid pumped in.

Interior of the car is finished with genuine, period correct fabric, factory code 170 in pearl beige.
The dashboard is crack free, door cards are not shrinking or damaged and the carpet is clean.
Seat bolsters without any damage, however passenger seat base has a few threads of fabric coming out.

Electric windows and mirrors are working as they should. Heater fan working on all 3 speeds, rear screen defrost and all interior lights and illuminations fully operational. I've replaced original bus steering wheel with sporting, period correct Raid steering wheel. Pre face-lift fine spline type one, rare and hard to find. New, made to order, velour floor mats in beige are completing interior look.

Exterior thanks to fresh paint is truly impressive, chrome work not damaged and very bright. The only downside is central section of rear bumper, someone in the past treated it with very abrasive material, deleting chrome surface.
I've installed new chrome trims for windscreen and rear window as old ones lost their chrome effect.
There's also rear spoiler, custom made fitted. It gives the rear sporty but "light" appearance.

She is being sold with two sets of wheels. On car - super rare, Italian made Whey King alloys 7J x 14 ET10 with slanted, mirror polished dish wearing fresh 205/70/14 tires and genuine set of BBS Mahle 6.5J x 14 ET22 which ideally should be refurbished.

Full service history complete with owners manual booklet, over 100’s invoices and recipes stacked in chronological order in a heavy file holder, two keys and V5 in my name.
